"Charting the rise of the 1990's Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, one of the most notable dynasties in sports history." Does this documentary really do this? There are (very) occasional glimpses of what made the Bulls dominate for so long, but this document ultimately fails to focus and falls short of showing anything substantial about the way the Bulls went about their basketball which made them a cut above the rest. You don't win 6 chips in a decade by training harder, playing harder and wanting it more than everyone else. Execution is the key and where the Bulls excelled - this is never touched on. Rather, they focus on the scandals, the Jordan stereo types that have been reported ad nauseum, famous games and other sensationalist story lines all while backing it up by some cocky self serving commentary from Jordan himself. First two episodes were fantastic, from there on it's been downhill.

Big Barkley fan and I agree with him on that 93 Bulls team being better than 97. Most of Jordan’s contemporaries were still in their prime in the early 90’s. After 2 expansion teams added, more legends retired, the league wasn’t as good especially in the East in 97

Yes Jerry Reinsdorf is more responsible for breaking up the dynasty than GM Jerry Krause. Only because his comments on organizations not players win championships quote was blown out of proportion because people are usually so damn sensitive. Reinsdorf WAS THE ONE who wanted to mash up the team but Krause wanted Phil gone. MJ had shown loyalty to his coach. The media targeted Krause more than Reinsdorf. Shaame on Jerry Reinsdorf for dismantling the bulls should have waited till they lost or move a few pieces not the coach. He also didn't help Pippen get a better contract. Hopefully the documentary puts to bed any precious outstanding questions about that 1998 season.

Charles is absolutely right. Reinsdorf said it was suicidal to resign everyone in the last episode of the documentary. But why? Why not try for the 4 peat? Like even if they are aging, they still would have been a good team and contender still '99. It was certainly possible, they had bird rights on everyone. The only reason you allow the GM to announce they aren't resigning Phil no matter what a year early is because you don't wanna pay anyone after the '98 season. Also agree with the first three peat Bulls being better. Everyone seems to think the second three peat Bulls were better than the first 3 peat because they had better regular season records, but the league was diluted then cause of the expansion and just an odd era where there was less up and coming talents. There were no real up and coming superstars going into their primes in the late 90s other than maybe Shaq, but even he didn't really reach his prime until the very late 90s. The early first three peat Bulls, Michael was clearly statistically better and more athletic than the second three peat. Same with Scottie.

I think the 90s athletes specifically avoided political issues. Even if you take the stats in raw form, out of context and not in terms of ranking relative to the competition, you see Suns allowed fewer PPG, had a better SRS score, higher pace, better Defensive Rating, and a better record. Their point differential was greater, and the differential of their Offensive Rtg to Defensive Rtg was greater. Of course, the 2018 Warriors have more names, but as a team, the '93 Suns were equally productive on the court. The 2004 Pistons have no Hall of Famers for example, but as a team, they were extremely productive and were great. Besides, some of those Suns players, like Kevin Johnson and Tom Chambers, would be Hall of Famers had Jordan not prevented them from winning the Championship.
