As a former basketball and baseball player, people should give MJ an enormous amount of credit. Hitting a baseball is one of the most difficult things in sports. Pippen was the GREATEST teammate of all time and that's not just my opinion (Jordan and Rodman will back me up). It's like the old saying about Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers....Ginger had to dance WITH the greatest, only she had to do it backwards and in high heels while Fred lead the dance. Not easy. John Adams was the greatest Founding Father, but he wasnt the first president (Washington), the best orator/document writer (Jefferson), the best Constitution writer (Madison), or the best diplomat (Franklin). Why do people have to make things all or nothing? Pippen was a great teammate, but had some really bad moments. LeBron and Olajuwon quit on their teams at different times. Dr J lost his cool once against Boston. Doesn't mean they weren't great, but they're human and flawed. When you play a high level sport for 15 years you'll have a few regrettable episodes.

The big question is what did the Bulls do with all the money they made during both of these championship runs? Besides the two seasons where Jordan made $30m/p in 96-97 and 97-98, in his 14 years as a Bull he only made $4m twice. While Scottie agreed to his contract, he definitely out-performed his deal as well. The front office had every right to not renegotiate contracts. However, in view of their overwhelming success both on and off the court, it was a bad look to not allow players to enjoy the windfall they helped to create. This doesn't even take into consideration the appreciation of the Bulls value as a franchise.
