Man, you're the one who changed my perseption of the bass forever. I've always recognized the importance of the bass as part of the rhythm section and as a foundation for the rest of the band to build over, but gosh, I gotta say, everytime the bass player took a solo, I took the chance to go take a leak. Your videos have helped me change that. Thank you so much!

I think a lot of music would be better if they got rid of the drummer, and had the bass player take on the full rhythm of the song. Not sure if I am explaining correctly.
@JustAnAcorn
@JustAnAcorn 6 ай бұрын
@@MomentsInTrading That wouldn't work at all for a lot of songs. You can have a song without one or the other, but it depends on the style. Jazz you'd need a drummer in most situations, for example. There's also the added benefit of being able to have fills from a drum set and still having bass keep the rythm going. Same for the other way around. You might think it would be improved, but it would overall be needlessly more difficult for the musicians in most situations, and great in a few niche places

@@MomentsInTrading Sometimes with our band the drummer may not be available for rehearsal. So as the bass player I have to play more "rhythmically" if that's a thing. But it just isn't the same. Some music just doesn't work. It is great practice for me, having to control tempo and such, but not something I'd like to do in a performance setting. I like our drummer!!!

Gotta say I'm not a fan of the 360 camera - it distracts from what you guys are doing. Would much prefer a simple two-camera setup where you have one camera showing both of you and another that focuses on whoever is soloing. Then you can judiciously edit.

I’m a camera man and a bassist and guitarist both. I’m in my seventies but very active on all fronts. I see what these folks mean in their perspectives. Me being a person who has spent many years looking through the lens many times shooting musicians I always try to not just reveal the skill and talent as clearly as as I can but incorporating beautiful light and an exciting atmosphere. I personally see the power in 360 cams. It displays a very interesting POV which I find fun and effective. But to the gentleman who prefers an old school approach to filming and editing I agree with him as well. The power to me is as a filmmaker/ photographer is to entertain the viewer. I think 360 cams add a definitive style which is ultra modern and a beautiful visual experience. But like the pregnant lady express it created discomfort which made her almost ill. Have said all this the solution in regard to this video is to just pull everything back a bit. A mixture of photographic methods involving old school and new school I personally feel could help the entire process. Like I said and will always feel the audience is the reason we do this. I love the light on stage and how everyone looks both on stage and in the audience. So bravo on that front. One more very important consideration is to listen to the music. Duh! Now my two cents on that. These two musicians are stupidly talented. I’ve listen to Charles for a long time. Myself and other musicians who I’m close with love him and his talent. But might be close to jumping the shark if he’s not careful. This performance was not necessarily easy to listen to. Not because they aren’t brilliant but they maybe y be too concerned with chops and leaving the music behind. All soloists feel their solos are important. It’s the greatest way to share your depth and Musical skill. Charles never ceases to amaze to amaze me so this is in no way a jab. I praise him. But I feel melody and harmony are the most important supported by a rhythm. With those elements kind of over shadowed by expenditures of chops kind of misses the point. Ok I’ll shut up. Play on my genius brothers. I’ll always have your back. F
