Charles Coburn and my great great grandmother Helen Acosta (Née Coburn) were siblings. My grandparents used to visit with him. I well remember as a kid how Helen's grandsons (my great uncles) were always joking around like a bunch of comedians, as did my Dad and his brothers as did me and my siblings and all of my cousins. You might say it runs in the family.

My family was similar, lots of singers & musical inclined & growing up with them all was a blast! Both Dad & Mom's sides!❤ Family reunions were spent with much laughter, sing & fun! Often around a campfire! ❤

@@cristineconnell7803 My Grandmother was an accomplished musician. When she was in her early teens, she and her mother played the organ in the theaters during the silent movie era. Movies had no sound then so theaters hired keyboardists to either play piano or organ. My Dad is one of 9 children, FIVE of which were musicians - all keyboard players like my Grandmother. Growing up there was always a piano or an organ being played at family gatherings. I've carried on that legacy of being a musician.

This was a very good movie. Of course it's so close to reality because it reveals how how crooked so many of our elected officials have been and always will be. It exposes the ugly underbelly of our political process. After the events in America, beginning in 2016, I'm absolutely exhausted and I am so not looking forward to the run-up to and the 2024 presidential election. Nonetheless, this movie had a happy ending!!! So heartwarming and encouraging to see how Col. Effington's cousin stepped up to the plate. Doesn't matter how he got there, he got there!

I would not characterize this movie as a farce because the characters were neither exaggerated or in improbable situations. It was very true to life. Heck, it was barely a comedy. It was a very good movie though.

Strong Jersey girl lead plays Georgia's peach. The major's general. You'd think it was an English invasion to complicate the boots against the communists. But that was just a cover story for another story like this one. The colonel refers to the Panama canal as an accomplishment. A direct result of his mosquito strategy. Passes on his watch because it hasn't lost a minute in 34 years. Doughboy tells Peaches he's seriously profanely in love. Rallies the troops to take city hall before going off to fight the Nazis. Colonel dies happy. Joy
