Because the modern economy cannot accommodate artists unless they're sellouts

He's so right man.. like, you can obviously find lots of amazing western comics and animation. But as a kid, i would see the comics and those guys with capes and very similar design, and then i would see mangakas absolutely FREAKIN OUT with their designs and movement in the pages, even if they had just black and white to do everything the pages were so much more alive it was like watching an animation. The action scenes specially were on another plane of existance, and that japanese comedy and expressions compared to the more realistic pissed expressions of the comics characters, its hard for a kid not to get sold on mangas and anime xD But i really think 80's and 90's anime are kinda the endless source of inspiration, this people were on fire doing crazy things way ahead of their time, its truly inspiring. Also we have to mention how otherwordly japanese games were in therms of experimentation. We will never forget you, SNES, Genesis and PSX!... xD obs: Charles fanarts are so lovely and amazing q_q

yoo vampire d is great I was recently going crazy over Amano's works and his vampire D stuff is amazing. About older anime i dig Jin Roh, spriggan and Blood Last vampire. Thats what i was rewatching recently and i just get goosebumps with the production quality lol Theres also sword of the stranger but thats more recent.. still has that same feel for me tough. Its just so good.

I really have soft spot for the hand-animated older (1960s) Astérix movies though. they're really nice. I like how they use the traditional media in Astérix and Cleopatra for example. I love Japanese animation and it's often highly professional, but French animation is really charming too.

There one important thing I learn from them, the artist, that they are so humble

Ink is just sooo beautiful! Dont know why but I have always loved ink. Once I hit 6th grade and was allowed to use a pen, I never looked back. I doodle or make shapes and ink in is something I enjoy. I'm not very good a at drawing. Just started to get back into doodling with a pocket brush, dip pen, fountain pen and various other pens and I'm experimenting with adding some watercolor on top of some. I really want to try the intense watercolor I just learned about, also watercolor that's colored grafite
