These fights are so much more admirable when you see how he deals with the adversity, time and time again. Always willing to take big risks and making himself vulnerable, very easy to sell him as an entertaining champ. And his hands are grossly underrated. people were underestimating his stand-up. His opponents' hesitancy to tie up and potentially be taken down is such a powerful weapon psychologically too.

Khabib spent the entire fight on the ground, that's why he wasn't knocked down. Charles in the LW GOAT, he dominates the same opponents on his feet and clear them faster and in a more dominant fashion.

Khabib did stand with Justin like Charles but he couldn't handle those leg kicks man. He was getting chopped down inside and outside the leg, despite walking Gaethje down like a terminator but you can see there's a moment in round 2 where he gets put on the stank leg from another patented Gaethje leg kick and calls it a day to tap Gaethje out. And while that's extremely impressive in it's own right (to decide when to stop the fight and stop it just like that), given how he walked through everything Justin had, how Charles effortlessly checked or entirely evaded Gaethje's trademark leg kicks to stand and trade with him and walk him down AND smashed him to the floor before submitting him in just the first round, was just masterful. Truly a special performance. When you add in the amount of competition he's faced at the highest level (Ferguson, Poirier, Chandler, Gaethje) which is very comparable to the last fighters Khabib fought (the four best, world class ones were RDA, Conor, Poirier, Gaethje) I would say he has one more win and I'd call him the lightweight GOAT, especially since he'd be tied with Khabib for 3 defences.
