Been driving with it stuck in defrost for almost 2 years. $32 part on amazon and 10 minutes labor. I can’t believe my AC is working now. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Is there a 2wd switch too? And what’s it called?

Look under your glove box.. There is a connection that vibrates loose..i chased my tail looking for a leak...defrost is the default when total loss of vacuum

I have a 2003 F250 5.4L 2V, Gas. My A/C would move to defrost under acceleration or heavy load (up hills). Issue was with the vacuum solenoid. There is no vacuum pump on a gas, no matter what the internet says! Part I used was Dorman 600-402 4WD Hub Locking Solenoid

If you're having this problem in post covid now with parts be hard to get, this one in particular at 1 1/2 months out 😒 if you don't don't mind just locking your hubs in manually you can just plug of the red hose off (the vacuum supply) to the actuator and the vent controls will go back to normal.
@hisnameisiam8082 жыл бұрын
I tried this and it didn't work. I still have no control. Maybe a different vaccume leak?

Before you changed this part did your 4x4 work? I am having the same issue but my truck still goes into 4x4 leading me to believe the part is still working
@cajunman73894 жыл бұрын
UPDATE. My 05 has a valve on the heater hose at the fire wall. The vaccum line is brittle and keeps breaking. I have figured out my issue. I wish i could send pics on here to help anyone out but aint that smart.

Well in this man's defense, his problem is the heater is stuck on defrost mode. The blend door seems to only control the temperature at which the air comes out of the vent. Im no mechanic but there may be a method to this guy's madness. I could be wrong though. Im just a guy that likes working on my own stuff and saving the money to pay a mechanic lol. I did watch one other video of a guy that had the same problem as this man and it was also this part that was wrong with his truck. I have the same problem and already ordered the part off amazon. I hope Im not wasting my $$$$

So... what happened when you installed the part?

Did it work ?

I ended up wasting my money unfortunately. I have a friend thats really smart with problems like this and i ended up taking it to him and he actually found a small piece if trash blocking the small rod that moves when the vacuum is actuated. How i missed that i dont know but he fixed it in less than a minute
@h250riders3 жыл бұрын
@ lemony snicket. Hey man i ended up replacing the vacuum pump and it was not the problem. It was actually a small piece of debris or trash restricting the rod movement to the blend door. My friend fixed it for me in less than a minute. I felt really dumb after that. How i missed it i dont know! It was actually kinda comical afterwards

You got lucky. You can't replace the actuator if the pump is out. You would have to replace the pump, as that is what supplies vacuum to the system. It could also have been the pump, a fuse or the blend door actuator itself (which is what actually controls the switch to the 3 different areas). Glad it worked out for you but this video is misleading and could have someone wasting money on a part that wasn't needed. Best to find out the actual issue in the first place!
@timaultman54854 жыл бұрын
Agree... this had me completely confused.. why would changing the 4x4 Hub locking solenoid fix the AC vent door?? Perhaps he got lucky and there was a leak with the solenoid... I think the blend door actuator is most likely the culprit in these cases. I'm on my second 2002 F350 (first one was stolen) and i've had this very problem..twice.. the issue was the blend door actuator.
@danielortiz1724 жыл бұрын
Which pump is it? Because the actuator itself did not work for me.
@Bwanar14 жыл бұрын
@@danielortiz172 Just to the left of the actuator. Raise your hood, turn the key to ACC. Go around and see if you here it running. If it isn't, it can't supply vaccuum to the box (ahead and in between the 2) a eventually to the four wheel Act. or the blend door. If it's running, you can do a vacuum test on the box, and/or the blend door, to see if they are holding a vacuum.

@@danielortiz172 see that fairly large aftermarket pump that he has sitting to his left as he works on this ?
