Love the Chug of a old ALCO

Alco engines were real pullers! We loved the chug and the black smoke they produced!

I remember playing baseball down in L.A. NExt to a Santa Fe yard. All those beautiful engines switching power blew my mind. Just beautiful.

Wow patricknoveski, what a special time to be there.! The trains must have looked really nice back then, something you can enjoy in your memories forever. What part of LA was it?

I guess one of favorites would be the Santa Fe paint schemes...an yellow and black go good together...👍👍👍👍👍👍

For sure, the most recognizable paint scheme in the world!

In my opinion, the BNSF dropped the ball when they dumped the most recognizable railroad name and paint scheme in the world, at least in the top 3 or 4 indisputably! The railroad should have been called Burlington and Santa Fe and have kept the warbonnet red and silver for the super fleet and yellow and blue for everything else and the Santa Fe name on the sides and noses of the locomotives. The barf inducing green and orange and then black and orange with the garish yellow stripes and copycat wedge logo should be ditched!

@charlessmileyvideosАй бұрын
There are about 40 blue and yellow units running in local and switch service. Not sure about the War bonnets running around still, but there numbers are dwindling!

The rotating light on the F7 was made by Pyle, a competitor of Mars. Its circular rotation was simpler mechanically than the figure-8 pattern of the Mars light and was a very effective way of attracting attention to the train. Some railroads are adding rotating lights today, in addition to the required ditch lights.

I miss those days back when the Rail roads had carictor, unlike today.

kinda wish BNSF would consider blue and yellow war bonnet and cascade green heritage units, even if just a respray of something older.
@charlessmileyvideosАй бұрын
We do too, always wondered why they haven't done something like that. The "Sticker Bonnets" were a pretty weak effort. Paint some Heritage Units for real! Maybe Blue and Yellow, Green or Red and Silver would be nice!

Ok, bobkohl we will keep looking for them. They are not always so easy to find but we do have lots of film of Alco's and Baldwins!

Loved the video, but Cajon is not pronounced "Ca Jon". It is pronounced "Ca Hone" The "J" is pronounced like an "H".
@armandoperez7967Ай бұрын
Cajon means box in Spanish. As far as the Santa Fe, thank you Robert Krebs for the stupid merger! You got rid of the Santa Fe and you guaranteed that the SP would be next! I’m sure you are also at least party to blame for the splitting of Conrail between NS and CSX!
