😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

PLEASE, PLEASE for the love of god don't take it off and bring it home. I know some people who aren't familiar with it do just that then get chiggers which are like bed bugs. But yes, I agree 100%. We used to have a bunch of it in my yard.

Fun fact: Early cars uses spanish moss as the seat filler because it's so soft and durable. They stopped using it because bugs came along with the moss and would infest the seats.

dear Marianne and Chris, I wish I'd known you were visiting! My son and I have become fans of yours, when we found your Turkey adventures with Trudy on KZbin (PS. we're Turkish American and live in Charleston!). So wonderful to know you were close, even if we couldn't thank you in person for your lovely friendly coverage of the Turkish people, countryside, food and culture.

Our pleasure! And we loved our time - we did not choose to show that Turkish people are lovely and kind - THEY ARE !! We were there at a time when the world was full of fear and suspicion - people were turning strangers away in fear of getting sick - Turkey literally opened its door to us and everyone - EVERYONE was kind, sweet and generous !! You should be so proud to be Turkish - your culture, upbringing and natural sweetness is wonderful and we will always carry Turkey in our hearts 💜🇹🇷🌷🙌

Spanish moss tends to prefer two common southern trees: live oaks and bald cypress. It will, however, grow on most trees if the conditions are right. Spanish moss is not parasitic and therefore does not harm the trees directly. The plant obtains its own nutrients.

I am from Louisiana and grew up on "biscuits". When I lived in Europe, they called a cookie a "biscuit". Here in the South, they are usually eaten with breakfast: eggs and bacon or omelets as the bread. I hope you enjoy them. The ones you saw in the store were more cake like, and break apart, but a traditional biscuit is rolled dough and cut out into circles, they don't break apart. Plenty of lard and flour, great for the waistline but so good.. Yes, Marianne is right, the closest thing in England to our biscuits is an unsweetened scone. On the trees is a "fungus" but it is called "MOSS" not harmful at all. in fact it was used as filling in mattresses in the old days. ...very typical on oak trees in the South. You are really getting a southern experience: biscuits and MOSS....

I lived in the Charleston area from 2006-2021, it's Spanish Moss on the trees. I loved living there. The pollen is ridiculous though, it's actually called the USS Yorktown.

Actually, scones and biscuits are the same (without all that stuff inside) in Canada we use both (mostly scones).

Ya'll should try a McDonald's Sausage McMuffin w/Egg or a Sausage Biscuit. I suggest to put a little Strawberry jam (ask for a packet of it at McD's) on your McMuffin...very tasty! I think you were talking about Spanish Moss hanging from the tree.

Charleston is a tourist's delight. Unfortunately I couldn't see much of it the one time I was there to catch a cruise ship. Glad you were there and covered some of the interesting spots. Good luck with your road trips now that Trudy has arrived at the port. 😊

Spanish moss is very lovely but you need to be careful because it will harbour red spider mites.

Wife and I just came from spending a week in Charleston, before we saw your video. Really enjoyed ourselves, was staying just two blocks from King Street, so we walked up and down it all day, so its cool to see all the things we just saw in your video. And yes, it does not feel like a city at all. One quick thing, the ship you showed is the USS Yorktown, an aircraft carrier that was decommissioned in 1970 (original Yorktown, CV-5, was sunk at battle of Midway). We took the water taxi over the Patriots Point and walked all around it. The destroyer is the USS Laffey and its behind the Yorktown. The sub, USS Clagmore, is not open.

If you ever go make sure to visit some of the plantations. They're only about 20 minutes out of the city and well worth it. I grew up in the area and I myself still enjoy going there.

Don't waste your time its horrible and everyone who lives in Charleston hates tourists. It's become a tourist trap. Stay away and tell all your friends to stay away.

Hello Folks What a great video of Charleston that was. Rainbow 🌈 street is awesome. Visited there briefly myself. To me it was a very laid back atmosphere that city had. Food looked delicious 😋 You guys transfer the taste of the food nicely and effectively with your comments and facial expressions. Everything about you is NATURAL, That is ONLY ONE of the reasons why you're loved 😍😍🇹🇷♥️ Have more funs and SAVANNAH, GA is going to be next , probably? Love you guys💕💕😍
