considering its an inform chelsea at stamford bridge with rice playing with a fractured toe and ødegaard in his first game in 8 weeks getting rushed back from injury, havertz playing with a gash in his head and both full backs having struggled with injury the whole start of the season.. the performance was what we could expect. Make no mistake, its the worst version of this starting 11 we will see all year, its an out of form team carrying a lot of injuries. This team hasnt gotten going yet, we have hardly seen the same starting 11 two games in a row so far, let alone the strongest 11.

Odegaard was fantastic considering he did not played any games for nearly two months. Merino was also good and if he adapts i am sure we can tweak things better. However, we keep conceding goals which is a big concern compared to last season. Also, Trossard had another disastrous game. Thought he was a spy from Chelsea. After the break, i think we should give Sterling as much chance as possible. Aside from lack of confidence, Trossard reminds me of Aubameyang in his last season for Arsenal. He does not have the level of consistency required at Arsenal at the moment.

I think we gave a fairly decent account of ourselves tonight. Very difficult away game and we definitely had our chances. I thought that partey was probably the best player on the pitch yet again. Martinelli is struggling to cope with not having support on the left and still got his goal despite the unjust criticism in my eyes of late. On the other hand, with recent performances, I cannot understand why merino and trossard are even getting minutes ahead of the hungry youth such as MLS and Nwaneri. Feel like we need the break now to let everyone recover and to regroup and bring on the rest of the season, it is far from over!

Loved to see Ødegaard leading the pressing line again. He could be the expected gamechanger in the next fixtures. Martinelli, even though he scored the goal, seemed too passiv again in the 1 vs. 1. All in all, loved Timbers Performance and especially his solo run and shot in the 2nd half! COYG

Hi Charles, Again, another game where we've played well and probably deserved more from the game, though like Arteta said, it's the results that will judge us. As much as we needed a win, a draw at Stamford Bridge vs a growing and ever more dangerous Chelsea side isn't the worst thing in the world. I'm not worrying just yet, we're still in the mix and there's plenty of time left in this season. I also feel this season will have plenty more drama down the stretch, so no panic stations for me. Odegaard was magnificent, though I also really enjoyed Merino's presence in the game. Let's get a few bodies back into the squad over the international break and we kick on vs Forest.

Thanks Charles. Well, Odegaard IS our best player after all, who knew?! The thing with him isn't just his creative passing, it's his effort which I think rubs off on the team when he's playing. Watching his work rate today, he didn't even play like a player who's missed over 2 months of action. Other players can and should learn from that. We still have this thing we do where, once we get a goal, there's more desire to defend it than to add another. I don't know if that stems from the Arteta or the players. But you can see that as soon as Chelsea equalized, we started playing well again. Are we sure Arteta isn't a tad too defensive-minded? Anyway, there goes the title, we should now concentrate on winning a cup and go as far as possible in the Champions league. I don't think finishing in the Top 4 will be too much of a struggle for us. But let's not get it twisted, we started losing the title from the Decisions or "indecisions" made in the summer transfer window not only from the football in the pitch.

One more time with feeling- the replacements for Odegaard are Zinchenko, Jesus, Sterling, and then Nanweri. In that order. These players share the same creative DNA as Odegaard. I think it's a measure of Arteta's conservatism that he's been reluctant to experiment with these players in the position. One of the things we need to note is that many of the times that Mikel has broken patterns and made radical shifts has been when he was forced to- when his and the team's back is against the wall. And, in many instances, the choices have been obvious.... Arteta needs to be able to pull the trigger faster on such decisions. Strangely at the same time, he is willing to risk on some really over complicated strategies. The reason I'm still insisting on this tweak is because I have a terrible premonition that Odegaard may be absent again this season. We need to solve that problem because we can- and we also need to resolve the function of some of those players I mentioned. The tweak just may re-dynamise them. I think that tweak may be the one that gives us the magic fairy dust post-Dubai blitzberg fiotball that we had in the New Year last season. Other than that, we just need to play our best players in their best positions- enough with the cut and pasting which sabotages our best shape, our flow, and our attacking ferocity and precision. Let's keep Partey in midfield, Trossard as super-sub, and Havertz upfront. I think with players back from injury and rested, we can go on the necessary run to challenge for the Title and Cups- but I also feel the bolstering of the mid-field by the re-tooling of these in-limbo players could also solve alot if our creative midfield problems.

Arsenal put in a slightly better performance against a well-structured Chelsea side. I actually predicted the draw, and that’s exactly what we got. Chelsea are a solid team, so managing a draw on their turf is a positive outcome for now. It’s great to see Odegaard back on the field. Things will get tougher for Arsenal, especially as some clubs seem intent on making it difficult. Arteta will need to develop specific strategies for each opponent, which I believe he’s capable of. Manchester City is facing similar tactical challenges, so both of these top managers have their work cut out. Good luck to Arsenal in their next match!

Bittersweet. A draw away at Chelsea is a decent result in normal circumstances but with Liverpool winning and City dropping points, this felt like an important game to close the gap on City and stop Liverpool moving out of reach. We have a decent run of games after the break, it’s crucial that we hit the ground running and secure several good wins. Now that Ødegaard is back, as long as Rice is fit, I’d like to see Rice return to the 6 role. I think he’s better than Partey at screening the defence, and I don’t think his passing profile is that much worse. Defenders aren’t scared of him anymore. He does the same thing over and over.

Attitude reflects leadership. I give Arteta credit for changing the culture at Arsenal and he’s made the team more competitive, but this team reflects him as a player. He was safe and tidy. A lot of sideways and backwards passing as a player. He was never an incisive midfielder and he coaches the same way. It’s safe. Try to get a result. He doesn’t go after it. After two seasons of having a top defence in the PL, he goes out and signs another defender and a tidy midfielder. Where are the play makers, scorers and wingers? Too much focus on how he wants them to play, you need players who are determined and hungry. Arsenal are boring to watch and the results reflect the play.

Arteta needs to learn when and why to make changes. In all the games we lost this season, his changes are reactive after the fact. Yesterday, we were leading, Chelsea just made changes to freshen up. He was just watching the game instead of managing it. If he'd made the changes he made same time or before Chelsea did, the goal would not have come cus Merino would have been there in the middle with fresh mind and energy. Martinelli lost track of Neto, something Trossard would have been alert to cus he'd just come in.

my thought as well. The impotence up front is just amazing, how long is it until Ode really just get factual towards what quality forward at the best teames otherwise would have been able to execute on his serves and chance creating stats overall. And to be much too kind in that regard, this is going on its 3rd year and counting. I try not to speculate to much, but hello, imagine what the outcome overtime in terms of silverware and legacy, IF this team just could have a bit more quality up front.... Yeah, don't for a second disregard all the good stuff throughout the club like rebuilding everything from bottom-up/top-down in leadership, direction, atmosphere, unity, values to both respect and embody inclusivness. There is so so much that go together in order to build and create an attitude of winning culture, energy, and maybe most important what we may call the "IT" factor. Arsenal is well on its way and us fans as much as we love the club, we also expect a lot, thats just how our engangement and emotions work. Sometime we may expect to much, like at this early phase for instance: Captain Ode has been out for 12 games and need a bit more time to adjust and get his mojo back. Other players of real importance is also currently not were we would like to have'em. But to no extent is this a crisis of any sort. EVERY team in the league get their portion of struggles. Seen Man City lately? And liverpool on their pink cloud at the moment will at one point face their time with injuries, fatigue and whatnot. Maybe another trip to Dubai should be considered...... Oh well, only thing I wish for x-mas is a quality forward, lets at least agree on that one. Be well fellow Gooners, Ad Astra!

Other than martinelli scoring he just doesn’t offer enough I don’t know what it is with his game he just doesn’t seem confident beating his man he’s become so predictable we have to go out and get a quality left winger in the summer
@S14N9LS2 күн бұрын
Why do people keep saying this like it's gospel? Right now, in league play, Martinelli is outperforming Nico Williams (with basically the same amount of game time) in both goals and assists. He's outperforming Doku (who scored only 3 goals last season [half as many as Martinelli] and should have had 15 assists with Haaland up front, but didn't) and everyone fawned over him nonstop last season. That goal Neto scored was his first (in the Prem) and he's only got 2 assists... just like Martinelli. Martinelli isn't Saka. He never will be. We need to stop judging him by that standard. By almost any other standard, he's better than a lot of people make him out to be. With the current system, the wingers stay so wide all time, the only way they can thrive is with help. That's why Saka hasn't shown up the past couple games. Without the overlapping runs and help from Kai and Martin, Saka wouldn't be nearly as productive. He might still be better than Martinelli, but Saka is better than almost everyone, anyway. Martinelli thrives when he has consistent help and can get the ball closer to the box. He outscored Saka in 22/23 because he had consistent support and was set up way closer to the middle. The system needs to evolve. Clearly the way it's currently going, nobody is scoring unless it's from a set piece, so there's clearly something wrong atm.
@r2lavish5352 күн бұрын
@ he might be outperforming those players in terms of goals and assist in talking about his all round game play he has not improved in the last 2 seasons and yes you can say he hasn’t had as much support since xhaka left but the same thing is happening with Saka on the right in terms of getting doubled up on yet Saka still finds a way I know they are 2 different players but it seems like martinelli just doesn’t have a plan b when beating his man isn’t working take the stats out of it and tell me he is still outperforming wingers in the prem I can name 5 wingers in the prem who probably don’t have the same stats as Gabi but are deffo performing I love Gabi and of course I want him to do well but it just hasn’t been happening for him recently

@@r2lavish535 Against Inter and Newcastle, Saka had no help and Saka didn't show up. Against Inter, Martinelli was (by far) the most threatening attacker and people still slagged him off and didn't even mention Saka's poor performance. Martinelli is just judged differently. Martinelli works hard on defense and puts up (even at his worst) similar or better numbers than players people ASSUME are miles ahead of him. It's a perception thing. Either adjust the system so he's not completely isolated all the time or get the left 8 settled, get the LB settled, give them some time to gel and Martinelli will be back to what he was a couple seasons ago. Just because he doesn't "look as good" as other players... that's not his job ... doesn't mean he isn't doing exactly what Arteta wants him to do and/or doing the best with what little he's given.
@r2lavish535Күн бұрын
@ yeah he was probably more threatening but still produced nothing at the end of the day it’s a results based game even in the inter game and the Newcastle game Saka created the best chances of them games there’s no time to feel sorrry for Gabi because he doesn’t have the support he needs to do more and that’s end of any body who plays there is gonna have the same problem
@S14N9LSКүн бұрын
@@r2lavish535 Against Inter, the only chances came from Martinelli crosses and Havertz taking a couple shots that went wide. Ethan's shot wasn't really that close. Saka had a corner flash past the keeper but it didn't amount to anything. Besides that, Saka was hardly in the game. He lost possession like 32 times, I think. I don't feel sorry for anyone. I just wonder how "supporters" can be so eager to throw players under the bus when all they're going on is their own intuition. "Looking good" amounts to far less than most people think. Martinelli outscored both Doku and Nico Williams (in their Leagues) last season, too, and everyone agrees, Martinelli was way below par and those two were amazing. The "eye test" at work. They did more stepovers, therefore, they were better... He's definitely not doing his best and it can't all be blamed on the system but people constantly overreacting when the numbers tell a different story and when he's not the only one in a flawed system struggling to produce, just baffles me. You're wrong about the support on the left. It would be easy (relatively) to fix that. Get Ricky healthy and find out who is gonna play the left 8 role and then have them work together. Saka, Ode and White didn't get that good together out of the blue. They've had time to work on it. When Xhaka was still around and he and Martielli had played together a while, Martinelli had 20 g/a in the prem. 15 non penalty goals (which was more than Saka in the league that season). The problem is that the left is isolated by players who aren't left footed and out of position and switched up every game or two. All it''ll take is consistency.

Arsenal need to go hard to try to win the champions league in my opinion. That's the one the club doesn't have.

Charles how on earth as Arteta put Jesus on instead of Ethan is madness,if he’s good enough (AND HE IS) he is old enough let him off the leash and that has already come back and bitten on the arse,ESR performing for Fulham,never should had been sold. Am I the only one who thinks Gabriel doing what he always does in this case Neto shooting arms behind his back (AS ALWAYS)and always leans away from the ball,throw yourself in front of the ball FFS Arteta understatement of the season Rice & Saka it doesn’t look good,in Dec’s case it wouldn’t as started with a fractured toe 🙈🙈🙈

The other channels thrive in the negativity. They largely target impressionable children who tend to believe what the so called experts are saying/shouting at the camera after a match. Adults should not be watching the channel that begins with A, we should know better.

Never seen Arsenal this slow in their build up play in my entire life . Bang average board , high rake whom lacking ambition. And bang average manager whom obviously reached his ceiling.
