One of his best performances. It seems like he's slowly getting back to his best as the games go by. He does tend to drop off around the 60-65 min mark but Arteta seemed to have noticed. Hopefully he stays fit, we'll need him going forward 🔥🔥🔥

Agree with your thoughts on Gabby J, he just needs to bag a goal. Everyone was criticising 'nelli just a couple of weeks ago, then he gets some assists and a goal and his confidence has improved massively, and with it his overall game. Gabby J still has a tremendous amount to offer the team, and we will need him with all the fixtures we have coming up after the international break. He'll be back in form soon.
@NakulKrishnaАй бұрын
The problem with Jesus is he’s too emotional, and not clinical enough. He can squeeze in a goal somehow but still overthink things the next game. I think his injuries have resulted in him wanting to do things his body can’t. His pace has fallen off a cliff, his burst to open up space and his turning radius too has been hampered, he can’t even run faster than back tracking CB’s, which means he’s never going to get enough time to get a shot off properly and he’s always been a horrible instinctual striker and also now makes bad decisions all over the place. He’s a backup winger in our squad at best but his wages make his presence a huge problem. I think it’s time to take the L and move on from him. I would absolutely loved to be proven wrong but I don’t think I will. The players playing instead of him are just far better at the moment and he’s out 2nd highest paid player. Just doesn’t make sense anymore.
@joeabrahams6680Ай бұрын
Thanks Charles. I love Gabby J too but let's call it as it is, this team has moved past him now. I don't get these narratives that suggest that he hasn't had much time to impress this season. He started in our easiest match of the season against Bolton and still couldn't get a goal or assist (not that he was particularly poor though). He also started against Atalanta too and we know how that went. He will have a role to play in the course of the season of course, but we all know when everyone's fit he doesn't start and let's not pretend like that started this season.
@markstevens7589Ай бұрын
I agree. Its interesting how when we bought jesus and zinchenko they seemed to elevate the team and make us more serious somehow. But quite quickly the team moved on and was upgraded, this together with their injuries means as u say we have now left them behind and they feel like decent squad players now
@joeabrahams6680Ай бұрын
@markstevens7589 Couldn't agree more. Tomiyasu, Zinny and Partey are also on borrowed time now. Not too long ago we kept carrying passengers with the narrative that "yes they get injured a lot but when they're fit they're really good." The most underrated attribute in football is availability (fitness). It doesn't matter how good you are if you're rarely around to play. Tomiyasu hasn't played since June and Zinny's own is getting close to 2 months now and no one notices and the squad is getting used to not having them around anymore. I feel, when the summer transfer window opens, they could get the ESR package which is "thanks for everything, you're a really good footballer but sorry we cannot build a squad challenging on all fronts with players who we can't count on to stay fit for a reasonable period of time". Sentiments won't win, a certain level of ruthlessness is what's required at this level now.

After the tough fixtures we’ve been through playing without Odegaard, I think it’s interesting to know that you don’t necessarily need a one to one replacement for your key player when you have a squad full of versatile talents, all you need to do is to make small changes to the formation to accommodate the profiles of players you’re bringing in to substitute. The same can say about covering for Saka if he’s absent

It also allows some much needed rest for one of big gaby or Willo. Many thanks Nimish

Havertz is a quandery for me. It's as clear as day his strength is up top and the sooner Arteta forgets about him anywhere near midfield the better. I do feel with Trossard around him, (who by the way is the best natural composed finisher at the club) we are setting a very different proposition to the opposition. Havertz has the ability to find spaces up top where it gets tight. He's a very difficult player to mark and keep tabs is also surprisingly aggressive which leads to confusion in how the opposition deal with him creates space for others. I honestly feel if he leaves Havertz in the final third we will win the title. If he doesn't we won't

Inside Arsenal Extra Time - Hi Charles and James love the show ! Wondering if either of you have any concerns with Calafiori’s decision making? I can see the good player in him but I do wonder if he has been given a lot of game time very quickly ? Would hate for him to get all this game time only to make a few costly errors and then stunt his growth into a better player due to some big mistakes. I also feel that with Jesus he is showing a selfish side in regards to not making passes when in the box when he has had many easier options around him. All being said I am optimistic of our future as a team just some small worries I have.

Would love to know what you guys think of him. Many labelled him as a waste signing but he is I guess undroppable now. Also what’s your take on Tomi and Zinchenko. Inside Arsenal Extra Time: We speak about keeping players fresh and that being beneficial in the long run why does this not apply to Saka I think he will benefit in the long run maybe coming off the bench in certain games southampton for example considering we have sterling now who can play that position,. That quote from arterta saying best players play every game is flawed none of these "best players" do the defensive work that saka does every game
@dicksonhagoi2849Ай бұрын
Yeah not just Saka doing defensive duty but everyone in that Arsenal team does defensive work and that's why we aren't easy to breakdown, this means Arsenal players put in alot of work and this with time takes a toll on players hence need for rotation , Mikel must prudently use the personnel at his disposal to enable us go the full distance , this is exactly what Pep does with City to make them very effective especially at the business end of the season.

Hello Charles, i want to say something. Our defence could not and can not function effectively as it is if the attackers and the whole team do not support them. EXTRA TIME I for one, despite being so annoyed about Odegaard being out injured, thought it may have been a blessing for Arteta. Hi Charles Thoughts on this defense giving us an invincible season?
@JohnScarrottАй бұрын
Southampton are 2nd from bottom, won 1 lost 5, 3 goals for and 12 against. The only thing I'd say they have going for them against us is Ramsdale will be doing everything he can to stop us scoring. But their defence being like a swiss cheese isn't going to help him much and I still see us netting a few. Meanwhile their lack of goals versus our solid defence means I can't see them scoring any. This does as you're suggesting give us the option to rotate, but how often does MA change a winning formula? Not very often and only when it's really needed? So who will start? I think the 11 that started against City, Leicester and PSG is his best team, although Merino is now available to start. Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior, Saka, Merino, Rice, Martinelli, Havertz, Trossard. Subs to come on, Jesus, Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly, Sterling, Calafiori

Unless Jesus gets properly fit, match fit, his days are numbered and I can't see him being around long term. Personally I feel he could do with losing a a few pounds which would help. Yes he's trying too hard but that's natural. I think you have to remember he 's never been an elite true 'goalscorer' not at City or anywhere else but when super fit he has the ability to change the game for others and bag a few goals as well.

Hi Charles, typing from Stellenbosch Uni in South Africa. Do you think a contract extension is on the horizon for Thomas?

The difference for me between Martinelli and Jesus is one is young and still got a long way to go and improve, and the other is constantly injured just as he’s hitting his stride. His football iq also seems to have gotten worse(if that’s even possible?) constantly making bad decisions when the easy choice is the better decision. Jesus for me is never going to win his starting spot back at Arsenal, score a goal or not. He’s just not productive enough in this squad, and actually makes no sense to pay someone those wages when their numbers are that low. 17 epl games last season and 4 goals. It’s shocking tbh. I’d love to be proven wrong but I highly doubt I will. He was almost as slow as back tracking CB’s against Leicester and then made the wrong decision and didn’t even execute the shot properly with loads of time. He’s so emotional constantly that it affects his composure and ice in your veins is what makes a great striker.
