Charlie's and Ewan's adventures sparked my wife's question, "want to ride a motorcycle from Dharamsala to Ladakh together?" We never looked back and we had an amazing adventure on a 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet. Thank you for sharing, Ride Free

Gah I love listening to these two reminisce. I met Charley quite a number of years ago at the Perth (Oz) motorbike show. I had a bunch of questions lined up and all I could manage to get out was "hi" 😅 Hope Charley can get back to Australia one day and would love to go for a ride

** also I was in London last year (apart of a trip around europe) and on my list of things to do was visit the old workshop where Ewan and Charley set off from thinking 20 years would be coming up soon.

Thank you Charlie for sparking my interest in adventure riding. I own a R1250GS Adventure and it’s my favorite so far. I’ll wait for the Adventure version of the 1300 to consider a move.

Hey Charley, thanks for the memories of the miles. I hadn't seen LWA when I had my Alaska trip in '06, but had heard of it. I did 12k miles, KY to AK, back across Canada to VT,(where the BMWMOA National was held that year) in a 30 day trip. Had to average 500 mile days as I had 6 days off the bike. Biggest adventure of my life. Would have been nice to share it with a mate, instead of doing it solo. Rode a BMW K75 RT with 70K miles when I started out. I feel very lucky to have been able to make that trip, many riders want to go to AK and never get to do it. And say hey to Ewan for me.

I used to have the Long Way Round on DVD and watched it every time I needed a pick-me-up. Then I leant it to someone and haven’t seen it since, and I can’t remember who borrowed it. I must get myself another copy or find where I can stream it.

aaah remember the SONIC stickers, i think those were the camera equipment back then where they had to stick the cameras on their lenses, and it had wires on them! now you can get an action camera like a gopro and be done with it!

In the show, if I remember correctly, Charley talks about laughing at themselves going around the world in 20 years time. I first watched it in 2012, knowing it was filmed in 2004, thinking about what my life will be like in 2024 when I'm 30. It's shit in case anyone's wondering.

Don't you wish KTM had given you a 950 Adventure, Charley? I had one for three days short of two years between 2005 and 2007, then someone pulled out in front of me in Essex, and it was written off. So I went back to my 1996 R1100GS after I recovered. I enjoyed the book. Nick

I've ridden motorcycles for 45 years and bikers have generally had a bad name in the UK. What Charlie & Ewan did was bring it to the general population to see bikers aren't all Hells Angles and we have seen more people buy bikes off the back of it. More people tour Europe and the UK. Ive always toured so its good to see the increase, but there is some ridders who are arrogant, and generaly being nobs, these are the GS riders, GS this GS that, we've being doing it long before it came to light, and its not the only good bike out there, and the need to spend thousands on extras you dont need, i call the Catalogue Bikers, they look stupid trying to be cool. Grow up..
