Just watched Long Way Round again on Amazon after 20 years. Charlie and Ewan are hilarious - such charisma. Best moment was "calm down Russ....." I have a friend like Charlie 😂 Now for long way down. Wish I was allowed a motorbike

I really like these recovery brackets on the sides of the tank. They give you something to grab onto to pull the bike out of the bushes

How's the quick shifter? Triumph has a history of issues with that. Great video!

Do something on small bikes. Something in a normal person's budget. Even the Royal Enfield Himalayan is more realistic than these Austrian units. I know there are business tie-ins etc. But im sure that Charlie and Ewan could afford a self financed trip. A ride what you bought trip.

Two good reasons to watch this, Mr Boorman and the superb views of The Lakes. The best place to ride in the UK

It's windy and wet outside in winter. But if I watch the videos any longer, I'll have to get out, put on some warm clothes and take the old 1150 for a spin. . . . .

The best Triumph Speed Triple made was and is the 955i.... I own one and I have toured Canada on a Speed Triple 955i and early 1050i (hired out there). The Speed Triple 955i is definitely enough for the car clogged roads of the UK!!!! I have watched these YT reviews on the latest Speed Triple 1200 RS and smiled! I'm surprised Triumph went that far and put a 180bhp 1200 tuned engine in the Speed Triple - an unfaired motorcycle... It is only to keep up with the competition I suspect. Majority of riders don't need that power on UK roads and this latest machine is spoiling the overall image of the Speed Triple. The 1200RS is race focused, ultra stiff suspension and the motor is revvy. The whole idea of the Speed Triple was a detuned engine to bring the torque in at a low revs. So you ride the torque with no need to hit the rev limiter! It's an unfaired road machine after all. I had the Speed Triple 955i (108bhp and 72lbft of torque) flat out in Canada (empty roads) and it just "clicked" onto 143mph! I was lying on the tank with the wind blast on a still day, my helmet was being pushed back stretching the skin around my eyes so I was squinting.... See what I am saying? I personally would not buy the Speed Triple 1200 RS, there is no need for all that power and torque on a supposedly road motorcycle!!! Triumph should have put that 1200RS engine in a Daytona and left the Speed Triple at 1050cc Max! I'm a big Triumph fan but I'll stick with the best Speed Triple made, thank you.

Charlie, I really like you buddy as I grew up watching your motorbiking adventures. I have now stumbled upon your channel and watched 2 videos and in both of them you make some silly mistakes with the technical stuff. For example this is not GT X model but GT+ Thanks anyway and wish you great success as you are a nice guy

Good to see you on a bike again, Charley! The Wife thinks I should buy one of these, but there's still 3 in the garage - the original my '72 and a couple built up from swap meets. We used to ride them in The States, Mexico, and a bit in Canada. It was always like Ewan and you - the long way round.

Hi Charlie, just picked up your review. I’ve had a 9GT and just upgraded to a GTplus (not X) and frankly I’m a bit disappointed how much you’re underplaying improvements Yamaha have put into the Plus. It was already an excellent bike. You missed the biggest innovation that the Adaptive Radar Cruse offers that sets this bike apart from the rest of the market, the integration with the indicators that lets the system pick up speed again once you start to overtake on cruise control - it is bloody brilliant! It makes motorways a dream - no one else’s system does this at the moment and it’s probably why the signals can’t auto cancel. Also maybe the PR notes didn’t factor in the cost but the equivalent R1300GS with all the packs is £24,600 (I know my mate has just bought one) so more like a £10,000 difference though admittedly you do get hill-hold that I’d love on the Tracer. The screen is rubbish, you're absolutely correct there, the seat is OK but the ACC and the new quickshfter makes this the best bike in the sector in my slightly biased opinion by a considerable distance.
