I met Charlie Pride in 1966. At a club in Great Falls, Montana where he performed frequently. His first album had just been released. When he took his break , he sat with us. My mom and I were with the the local entertainment news guy. A friend of Mom's. They were all acquainted. I was visiting from Oregon. A few months later during the holidays I was there again. Talked with him again. A very genuine person. Some months later, my mom said he had bought a house a couple of blocks from her. My younger sister baby sat for his kids. He lived in Great Falls for longer than most people realize. Montana truly claimed him as their own. By the time he left there, he was a really big star.

This man I totally admire, for the person that he was! I just have to tell you all the story. My Uncle was very sick (colon cancer) he'd always loved Charlie, well he wanted a signed picture. My little darling cousin finally got a holt of Charlie's office, they said sure They'd get one in the mail, then the lady said now you do know sometimes Charlie calls these people and talks to them, well a few days passed and the phone rang ,they said Charlie want to see if he could talk with my Uncle, they took the phone to him Charlie talked to him oh 15 or 20 minutes. Oh it made my Uncle so,so happy, it was the last time we seen him so happy. We have Loved Charlie for years, but never thought of him doing what he did for my Uncle. There's no one else ever done something like that, but Charlie did!!! I was so sad when he passed away, there will never be any one that can fell his shoes. MANY PRAYERS FOR HIS FAMILY, HE WAS TRULY ONE OF THE BEST CARING STARS IKNOW OF.

I discovered Charley Pride as a small child while listening to my transistor radio. His singing captured my heart at an early age. As a military brat, we traveled to many places, and when we stopped to eat, I always played a Charley Pride song on the jukebox. Charley was always on the jukebox! To me, he was the stuff. And now, I am truly saddened to hear of Mr. Pride's passing. I would like to extend my most heartfelt condolences to Mr. Pride's family & friends.

Couldn't find lyrics for this song anywhere online, so I just transcribed: I’m always there, forever, I am There between what I’m reaching for And the fingers on my hand Blocking myself with things, like words I shouldn’t say It seems I’m always standing in my way Like the time I told you a lie And I became the wall that stood between your heart and mine I apologize, but the truth is, The truth don’t ever fade. It seems I’m always standing in my way. My way is the hard way, I guess. Guys like me say “No,” when they mean “Yes.” I’d step aside if I could, Because I live for your embrace. But it seems I’m always standing in my way. Why you stand beside me, I don’t know. There’s so many places a girl like you could go. I hope you see enough in me To make you want to stay Cuz it seems I’m always standing in my way. My way is the hard way, I guess. Guys like me say “No,” when they mean “Yes.” I’d step aside if I could, Because I live for your embrace. But it seems I’m always standing in my way. I’d step aside if I could, Cuz I live for your embrace But it seems I’m always standing in my way. I’m always there, forever, I am There between what I’m reaching for And the fingers on my hand .

Saw this man twice in Ireland 🇮🇪🇺🇸☘️. Irish people love this man. He came over to Ireland 🇮🇪" alot ". Others followed after him.. he is so gentle and the " pridemen" ( his band ) have great respect for him and with him forever. I had the pleasure of speaking to him and he signed his book " pride" for me. He is very witty and singing as good as ever. God bless you " Mr pride" you are a credit to yourself and the state of Mississippi as you let nothing stop you achieving your dream. You keep going " until " Nashville accepted your wonderful voice and you made the way for the likes of " Darius rucker " etc. Keep on singing Charlie and Ireland will keep on listening.
