I always thought that Charlie Persip was one of the most underrated drummers in Jazz. I love his work on Mal Waldron's "The Quest". Alan Dawson is another one who people should talk about more.

Have you heard The Freedom Book? Wasn't Alan the teacher of Tony Williams?

Charlie Persip is a legend. One of the greatest jazzdrummers of the day. I always loved his playing in both bigbands and small groups. Great drummer. Love his vibe and talk in this interview. Smells of a real cool jazz cat. :-)
