It drives me nuts when people write off her personality as vapid or unintelligent. She’s so eloquent and thoughtful in all of her interviews and obviously plays up the party girl aesthetic intentionally Side note: you can see the pain in how she says how badly she wanted to be blond when she was young. Growing up mixed surrounded by wealthy white people can really plant some deep insecurities.

"No because what you don't understand is!!!!!" Charli is SOOOOOO smart. Everything is done for a reason. In her Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Charli's intelligence is on full display. Charli and her team are marketing geniuses.
@katiebarber4073 ай бұрын
it's kinda sad how much marketing matters these days. you don't even have to be good at anything else in some cases. and if you're a good musician but not great at marketing people ignore you

As someone who shares basic features like her but from a different minatory group i feel her pain. I grew up in a similar time frame and i was the same too. I wanted to be blonde so bad due to all the media of white ppl like that everywhere.

Just for the sake of precision, the Alive 2007 is not the one she mentioned. She mentioned one that took place at Coachella on 2006-04-29, whereas Alive 2007 happened in 2007-06-14 in Paris (I didn't knew that, I also had to research it, it just caught my attention that she specifically had to clarify "the Coachella one", so I had to check ✅)

this project really speaks to me b/c my personal solution to nihilistic existentialism is absurdism. not total chaos, but strange whimsy. her talking about how we're all going to forget about this and it's best just to have a laugh... the interviewer took it as negative self-talk, but I think it speaks to a deeper world view of making odd & interesting artistic and professional choices in order to combat existential dread and also the stagnancy of modern pop music.
@FireDancingKira3 ай бұрын
wow, I've never been able to put words to that experience and you did it so succinctly. Lately I've been struggling with adhd related executive disfunction and blasting brat has become my go to coping strategy

@@FireDancingKira glad my post resonated, and nice :) happy you've been enjoying the clubby overstimulation on Brat. I've heard from friends with ADHD that loud/overstimulating/dance music can be really helpful in quieting the brain. It's cool hearing about music as a therapeutic tool. I know for me I definitely use it as an emotional release. Way easier to cry out my feelings if a song like So I is playing :P
