The best thing Wendi could have done for herself was the minute her mother was arrested, she should have given that heirloom back and started engaging with Dan's mother and father, letting them see their grandsons again. It does make you think about how Dan handled the whole thing. What would he say if he could talk today given the outcome? With the theory that everything is on spectrum, what was his culpability in instigating this extreme, psychotic, reaction to this divorce and custody battle? Both sides were intransigent, and both sides had the money and wherewithal to put up a vicious fight. Wendy, (The only daughter), was not used to not getting her way, and clearly used the rest of her family to rescue her from Dan, who had expertise and the law on his side. Neither, compromised. And, that was what was sorely needed. The whole thing is Shakespearian. Money, drama, ego, children, marriage, location, the highly educated and thugs, ruthlessness, and murder planned and carried out by sophisticated modern professionals, all caught by law enforcement by making the most amateurish mistakes.

What amazes me is that Charlie Adelson (The Maestro), and indeed the whole Adelson family, thought that he/they were invincible and that their financial situation and political connections that the family enjoyed would protect them from prosecution for anything they dreamed up. It obviously never entered their mind that Danny Markel was a wonderful person who was adored by so many and that so many would join together in support of Danny and his real family and friends. So today we see this outpouring of support for Danny, while Charlie is behind bars fearing for his life. Of course, Donna, Wendy and Harvey must be picturing themselves in the same situation. There’s something very fitting about that, although it appears that the Adelsons still “don’t get it”. RIP Danny Markel, knowing that you are much loved and remembered and your sons will come to know the truth in time.

What gets me is that people must think that Harvey is an old, decrepit man. He’s not. He’s not crippled or anything like that. Donna and the family treat him as such but he’s not. I actually see Harvey being indicted , charged, and arrested, then Wendi after. The reason being is because arresting Harvey will make Donna and Charlie come forward and flip on Wendi. Wendi, to me, was the mastermind of this whole debacle. Then she played the family like a fiddle. Her turn is coming but I think They’ll get Harvey first. It’s the smart thing to do..

I live in Sioux Falls SD , I know right where Charlie is at . They call it “ up on the hill “ the penn is a stones throw from the falls park , a beautiful historic scenic waterfalls and old time history / buildings hidden right outside of downtown Sioux Falls , a must see and I wish I could post photos . You can Google it . Carl is correct , brutal cold winters , extremely outdated prison right beside Charlie . The state is currently battling small rural townships surrounding Sioux Falls over plans to build a much needed new mens prison . No one wants it bordering their homes and farms . So excited to listen to this full podcast , but I just had to jump in and say Charlie is my “neighbor” now and give a high five to SF , … if you can handle thd snow and winters , it’s not a bad place to live . Still a conservative state , with some good morals and values here , but yes , we sadly see our share of crime as well .

Hi Carl and John. My source of info about Jimmy P. Judkins as Wendi's atty who called Isom is from Jeffrey Lacasse interview in March 2015 near the end when Jeff talks about how he talked Wendi after the murder. Judkins was Wendi's family law atty after Christine Adamson withdrew in May 2014. John Lauro was retained later but I don't know exactly when. I appreciate everything you cover and discuss. TY.

Great show! Just one comment: Charlie was more likely driven to SD by a contracted private company rather than flown on a Federal airplane (i.e. ConAir)... he's a state prison inmate, not federal. These companies are specialized in making interstate prisoner transports. Their vehicles move prisoners like an Amazon delivery route. They are usually operated by multiple guards/drivers and they don't stop except to drop off or pick up inmates

This is definitely one of the most bizarre cases and that's what drew me in to follow it. I really appreciate Carl's thoughts and insights. I've commented on this before but now it feels even more bizarre since I live in Sioux Falls, SD where the Jameson Annex is located. I never knew that part of the prison was built in the late 1800s until Carl mentioned it. I had to drive past the prison yesterday and was once again kind of blown away to remember Charlie is actually in there now.

❓Question❓Would the heirloom ring have paperwork? One of Charlie's jailhouse calls he tells someone, (Donna I think) to make sure they get the WWII paperwork out of the safe...what could the those papers be about?? I haven't heard anyone discuss this statement. Thank you
