ok heres the story to this post. My brother was at this show. He and his friends drove 8hrs through a snow storm to get to the jam from St. Louis. they didn't have tickets but talked to the road crew and they let them in. its classic. i remember being five years old and loving Caballo Diablo. I posted this for u Rick. You showed me what music is supposed to be.

Great piece of music. This shows the huge influence the Allman Brothers had on "Southern Rock" bands.

No Place To Go was actually recorded on Honey In the Rock by CDB before the Allman Brothers recorded or ever did Whipping Post. Very similarly songs 🎵 but Charlie Daniels expanded on the progression I know and play both songs.

I'm a huge Allman Brothers fan and have seen them 21 times only Johnny Winter at 16 live shows comes close in my live show experiences. I love a lot of bands from many different genres of music and other performers too.

@@vinceclark4862 Honey in the Rock was released in 1973. Whipping Post was on the Allman Bros debut album, released in 1969. I didn't say No Place sounded like Whipping Post. I'm saying Charlie embraced the double drummer, two lead guitar, keyboard, bass Jam Band Sound that the Allman Bros pioneered in their live shows. He was a fan of the Allman Bros and went that direction with his own sound for several years.

Saw CDB open for Eric Clapton in '77 and Eric brought out Charlie for an encore with him. Was one of the best encores ever.

Damn, this is great. I used to play this on a cheap turntable with one speaker. I didn't know anything about jazz but charlie was introducing it to all us young southern boys. He really did some great stuff back then.

The first time I saw the CDB was when JD Blackfoot opened ,then Charlie, the the first Rush Band without Neil, the Working man album they had it in forest park the place the worlds fair was they got 80 K people show up to this free concert never did it again. 1974 then I saw them at the first two jams , and a concert in 74 that CDB opened , The tucker boys and then a band I had never seen live but Skynard and Ronnie blew all of us away. Toy is one of my favorite guitar player, and No place left to go with help from a micro dot , and the all Ronnie's mules blew me away Allen Collins, Steve Gaines, and Gary , the first Tribute tour I was introduced to Johnny he and Gary didn't want to hang out in there room of fakers they would just rather to hang out with guys that just think we are another one of the boys, stayed in our room until the Bus was leaving at 5:30 am and they called us at 8 am and told us how good of a time they had. which lead to 38 special opening for ZZ Top who Johnny introduced me to another one of my favorite guitarist Billy Gibbons and bass Player Dusty Hill. Every band members I met were such nice guys, but Charlie Was above and beyond to me I saw him ten times after him getting us tickets to first one drove from St Louis and concert was sold out at 11 Am we walked into the Arena to find tickets rt before the guy was going to kick us out and we told him the story and he goes your best bet is Charlie he is rt over there he got us 4 tickets , form then on the ten concerts he had near St Louis the Deqoiun st fair in ILL, the river feastful , special guest of the CDB band at six flags, the sedaili MO st fair, he got me backstage every show.

Nobody talks about the bass player...... Charlie Hayward....He also played on the Laid Back album with Gregg Allman. I saw the CDB once, it was in 1974 I think. They opened for the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Marshall Tucker. CDB we’re doing more bluesy stuff, which was the favorite period of them.

I saw these guys in 75 at CW Post College on L.I. The warm-up band was The Outlaws. CDB came out side-left to watch cause The Outlaws were rockin the place. At that moment everyone thought they stole the show. WRONG, CDB came out and brought the house down. 3 encores........Great double-bill!!!

Both those bands were tremendous. The 70s were a good time for music if you knew where to look. Every time I say that people look ar me weird. They say it was all disco. Well, maybe just a little of it, at the very end.
