I think from season 7 the show starts to get a bit better up until season 10, so from 7 to 10 the show became pretty compelling with some interesting characters starting to arrive and abaddon was pretty cool. Although season 9 with metatron wasn't that great he was super annoying but still they kept with a more compelling storytelling and it had it's moments. It was a refreshing new start after the terrible writing in seasons 4, 5, and 6 with the whole god/lucifer/apocalypse/archangel thing that went on for 2 whole seasons it's painful to get through again. Then season 6? what was the point? they introduced the alphas and eve and then poof! we don't see them for most of the season until the last 3 episodes and then they get of them it was so empty and underwhelming. Too bad it didn't last from season 11 onwards although i think after season 10 the show should have ended it went on too long, it would have set a much nicer tone while we were in that era of improved compelling writing and storytelling compared to what we got at the end of season 15.

I've noticed lately that Sci Fi shows have a new trope of genius girls who can solve everything from Shuri in Black Panther to Charlie in SPN to Fred on Angel. I just watched an Angel episode where Fred spent a ton of time working on "equations" that could give a ghost a body. It was all bullshit but the writers kept showing Fred doing math like--look here, she's brilliant! She can divide!

To be a little fair, it’s mostly a CW thing. They always have that trope in one of their shows. It’s almost as bad (in terms of populacy) as the tsundere character trope in anime.

I don’t think Charlie fits in that trope at all. She’s not a natural super genius or anything, she is a tech expert who honed her knowledge through practical use. She’s literally just a hacker who’s self taught. There are plenty of people like that in real life that have been employed as cyber security consultants.

it's not just some girl thing . it's the hacker trope. it's been around since the 80s but became more a thing in the 90s. like Jeff Golblum being able to defeat the aliens in Independence Day. because he knows "computer stuff" which means that he can then somehow break into super advanced alien tech using 90s computer hardware

don't be mad at me but,Dick Roman was,is and always will be my favorite villain on SPN!I mean he had everything an understanding businessman villain needs!humor,smartness,charisma,intelligence,grace...everything💗the rest of villains always had something very very annoying!Bartholomeo had some similarities with Dick but they killed him off before even mentioning the final battle!
