​@@stanredding76 I had a dad all my life ,growing up. Myself, and all my siblings were lucky in that regard, that we had both our parents. To give some prospective of the story tho , I'm a 68 y.o. retired man, dealing with health issues. So, totally different time , with no doubt, totally different issues and values. But several things that even time itself, should never be allowed to change. And one of those things, is manners. For instance, you would have never EVER , caught me speaking to someone ( especially, someone older ) , like this " kid " does to this guy. His attitude and demeanor alone would have been enough, to warrant a trip to the barn , from my dad and I. And it wouldn't have been to clean out some of the stalls , either. Bc on the way, he would have either cut himself a " switch ", or pulled his belt off to use. I would have known that, beforehand and hoping for the switch the whole way...some of you wouldn't understand my relief, once I saw that my hopes , had become a reality. Would almost make you happy, to be whipped. Yeah I know. But remember I told you, you wouldn't understand...I wasn't allowed to grow my hair ANYWHERE near that long either ( not that i ever wanted to..ummm, and even if I were allowed, why the hell would i ?? ) . The day I left home ( for good ) was on a Friday..my uncle had come up to the house to pick me up, not just for the weekend, but to move in with him ,and share a two bedroom apartment in town, and we were to split the utilities down the middle. I had gotten a job in town at one of the garment factories, had been there awhile, but was having to rely on other means of transportation, to and from work. I waited that afternoon until dad got home, had my uncles car loaded down, and only needed to let my dad know of my pending plans. I was standing on the passenger side of the car when he asked , if I was going to be gone the entire weekend..I told him yes, and he replied that he would see me Sunday night, and started into the house. But before he could get all the way in , I told him no , that I wasn't coming back. I then told him my plans of moving in , and the biggest reasons for the why..he waited patiently until I was done then said, no I don't think so. And started walking towards me..all the while, pulling his belt off while walking. The very next day was a Saturday, and was my 18th birthday. It was late summer , and I had taken that job for a reason. Lots of reasons, actually. But when he started towards me I put my hand up like a traffic cop would, and to my surprise ( and relief ) , he stopped. I drew a deep breath and thought, it's now or never , ole boy. So I told him, I said dad ,look. You can whip me if you think you need to. You can whip me if you think you have to,and this whole situation calls for it ,and makes you feel better, but after all this is over with ,it's not gonna change a thing. I'm still leaving, regardless. And one last thing you need to know also...( and this was the hardest thing I've ever had to say to my dad ) I said, you may whip me alright, but you've whipped me ur last damn time, with a belt...the next time you whip me , ur gonna have to whip me like a man ". And it'll put my left fist in the air to show him exactly what I meant, stood there a minute, neither one of us said anything, or made a move. Finally I looked at my uncle and said, let's go uncle, and we left. My dad turned around and went into the house. He looked so defeated..I never will forget that day..ge stayed mad at me, gor a very long time after that, but that's another story..anyway, thx to all of you guys for putting up with this old man and his nonsense..many blessings to all of you..and tc everyone and stay safe...hagd
