She said, it’s just a name so why can’t you call them by their new name. If it’s just a name why do they get upset if you call them by their original name?
@brendarushman1045Күн бұрын
I’m not an expert at all the rules that go with the use of pronouns, naming (and dead-naming), etc… the only thing I can compare it with in my own experience is that I was married for a short time when I was very young. To this day, if someone accidentally calls me by that “wrong” name, I’m quick to correct it. There is a whole (shuddering) feeling to it. I’m unsure if this might be relatable, or if it’s completely off-base… but it feels like I’m on the right track. Basically, I think we all need to cut one another some slack in all of this… it’s new to *all* of us, and none of us know how to navigate it. Brenda

There was a time, about 40yrs ago, when a woman had to be at least 25yrs old before a doctor would tie her tube... because doctors knew that people and their views change as they mature. I think gender affirming care/surgery should be the same.
@jimhaggard7436Күн бұрын
@@julierossbrickley146 My friend had hers tied twenty years ago. She had to wait until she was 35 before her doctor would consent. He was afraid she'd change her mind before that. She didn't have any children. They'll do it ten years earlier if the woman has had biological children already.

@jimhaggard74362 күн бұрын
That used to be the case. Because persistent gender dysphoria (the belief that one’s gender doesn’t correlate with their biological sex) is so rare, the prudent treatment was to evaluate the individual until adulthood. In the vast majority of cases (48 out of 50 men and 49 out of 50 women), the patients outgrew their desire to transition.

I was a tomboy. In the 90s. I wanted to be a boy. I dressed like a boy. I did boy thing, played boy games, all my friends were boys. If this happened now, in 2024 I’d be labeled “trans” and told I am living in the wrong body. As an adult I am very feminine and in fact don’t want to be male. Where have all the tomboys gone? What are we doing to our young girls? This is serious stuff, and disgusts me to the core.
