From the studio that created Pang/Buster Brothers comes Charlie Ninja, a side-scrolling platformer with excellent animation and visuals for the time, and a rather wacky sense of humour. Given just how polished the game is, I'm surprised there's no entry in KZbin's gaming database.
In terms of mechanics, I suppose Shinobi and Rolling Thunder are possible influences. The fact you can activate a 'cloak' move that renders you invulnerable temporarily is analogous to hiding in doorways in RT, although here you can do it at will. There's also a variety of weapons to collect, each with their own effects, strengths and weaknesses, and this is certainly a game where you'll want to choose your tools wisely.

First level I thought it was similar to Sunset Riders, 2nd became Metal Slug, 3rd Bad Dudes. Presentation in Gunsmoke style... wow really many references!

The first stage has a cowboy boss. And all the enemies are cowboys and Indians. The second stage has a boss soldier. And all the enemies are soldiers. The third stage... promised to be the most awesome in the game, but make disappointed. 😁
