This is the best interview of Steve Martin I’ve ever heard. I really miss Charlie Rose. I really dislike cancel culture, but if he did despicable things, then I guess he merited getting booted.

Steve is so quick on his feet. Several of his comments in the interview were quite funny and yet appeared to have come to him spontaneously in the course of the interview (rather than being memorized lines he had used before), including: praising Jerry Seinfeld as the best reader of his book, and noting how he inherited his mother's singing ability and his father's piano playing ability.

Don't wait to believe in Lord Jesus, we don't know when God takes us away and the opportunity for grace can become lost forever! It is only through faith in Jesus Christ and repentance that we can enter those Pearly Gates. (John 14:6, Acts 4:12)

What a satisfying time watching this. I think I'll have some pudding. And maybe Steve could talk about surrealism.

I'm not really qualified to say, but I think Steve Martin is probably a true genius. In the traditional sense as well as comedically. ( and I can't even spell.)

I went to Disneyland on the first day it opened, because my mother worked there. She was hired before opening day as a pastel portrait artist on Main Street. So, while my two younger brothers stayed at home with the babysitter in Santa Ana, I rode with my mom to work where I would take her employee badge, hang it around my neck and I had free run of the park. I thought it was funny that Steve Martin must have been not much older than me at the time, because he was hired to sell guide books. Later years, I was hired at the Disneyland Hotel as a waiter, and that was when I found out that Disneyland and Walt Disney himself did not hire people for a job, but rather cast people basically as actors to play whatever part that might be. One might wear Cinderella's costume, others would don The costumes of various Disney characters, such as Donald duck Mickey mouse etc. I impressed Walt Disney with my perfect imitation of Donald Duck, which I could still do. On my 8th birthday, Walt Disney himself gave me a personal tour of the park, showed me his private apartment above the firehouse, and let me " steer" the Mark Twain riverboat. There was a choreograph scene going on with Zorro being chased by Sergeant Garcia across the roof of the riverboat, which culminated in Zorro pushing him off into the "river".

R is a second-rate mind interviewing a genius and R can’t help falling in love with the sound of his voice uttering fatuous comments…Martin appears to be putting up with R’s cliché-ridden “reflections “ because he has to in order to promote and sell his (terrific) book on what it took for M to become the artist he is.

Now that I listened to that part more closely, I’m starting to think his dad forced him to do it. He was basically exploited since he was so young. Maybe that’s why they had a falling out when he got older. That’s not affectionate, it’s just sad. Now if he were an adult who fully knew what he was doing, then it would be a different story.
