Didn't have a qb until this year and his D took a step back. Blame that on recruiting which sadly he's apart of. Still felt the personel wasn't there for him to be successful. Part on him and part on the University.

UNDISPUTED ON FS1 I hope it's the Houston coach because even though Texas is 5-5 right now for a program with as much funding and history behind it they should at the minimum be a 2 loss team.... if they didn't have so many turnovers so many penalties every game so many 70 yard pass plays they might be a 3 loss team but they are so ...

Why did Texas hire Strong in the first place?
@LalienX
@LalienX 7 жыл бұрын
Because they were after Nick Saban so they cut Mack Brown. Nick Saban got a new contract from Alabama at the last minute so they had to settle with another coach.
@docstrange27

thsu8 same reason they are hiring Tom. he had success at houston and they think he gonna do the same thing with tx. what a joke.

Miles Coleman boy if Texas would have gotten Saban? They'd be National title contenders and winners immediately. Texas didn't want Strong at all. They had to settle with him.
@LalienX
@LalienX 7 жыл бұрын
Leonel Lomas maybe not immediately. Mack Brown left Strong with a really bad pool of players. But yeah, the boosters weren't happy about him being hired.
@leo29hornsfan

Miles Coleman Nick Saban was a guy that would have made an immediate impact and took Texas to a major bowl game his first season there just cause of the talent and all the recruiting talent that he would get just not in the state of Texas but elsewhere as well. Charlie Strong was an outstanding person and he was loved by his players, but when you have Texas exes and big donors like Red McCombs who has billions of dollars and they didn't want Strong in the first place? Then he was set up for failure. Texas always had the talent they just need the right captain to steer the ship in the right direction. I use to be a Longhorn season ticket holder and man dawg! These fans don't play around if you don't win they will drive you out. The alumni and fans want to see results immedietly..

Charlie Strong dug himself in too big of a hole his first 2 years. This year was just a result of that. He needs more time, but his decision making during games just makes that too difficult for the boosters.

like usual Rodgers gets all the blame for Green bays issues. Now all his team mates hate him. How about you draft some better players. Maybe have better conditioning as it seams every year your secondary falls apart. This team does not play defense what so ever but its all on Rodgers to score everytime you get the ball which isnt very often cause the defense cant get off the field.

John cage Yeah, but money's not everything? There's also job security and being the actual face of the program as opposed to how they treated him. It's all about the situation. That's why there's no need for Jimbo Fisher to go to LSU, he's in a better situation at FSU since he doesn't have to compete with Nick Saban in everything.

I think he had, and still has, a lot of potential, but from one game to the next, his team has shown confusion, lack of preparation, multiple procedural penalties, guys not knowing their defensive assignments/holding their hands in the air blaming each other for blown coverages, and poor clock and time out management. That's not on the players, that's on the coaches who aren't preparing the players. Remember, this isn't professional, they can't fire their players, (only hope and encourage new freshmen or transfers to come in), so the only people the University can control here are the paid coaches to take these student athletes and turn them into great players. With the last 3 years being the worst in UT's history, it's fair to say that Coach Strong and his staff have been unable to do this. No matter how much the team may like him, he's been incapable of transforming them into the next level.

Houston is going to pay Herman big money to stay. Make no mistake of it. Why? Because they want to get in a bigger conference and they need a coach like Herman to keep them performing and recruiting at a high level. Herman will be paid like a top FBS D-1 coach. If I were Texas, I would make moves for any of the following 4 coaches. 1.) Mark Dantonio from Michigan State 2.)Kirk Ferentz from Iowa 3.)Lovie Smith of Illinois 4.) Jim Tressell (ex Ohio State Buckeye coach who's penalties are all over). Those are 4 coaches that have proven what they can do and are the type of guys that fit the Texas Longhor mold. I would "strong"ly go for one of those 4 coaches. Any opinions guys?

What makes Herman different than the previous coaches before him? I don't follow them closely but Briles and Sumlin had success. Just wondering what would stop their progress with a different coach in your opinion? I think any of those 4 coaches you mentioned would be a good fit at Texas too.

1 and 2 years he was dealing with bad qb. why people cant see that. you have to give coaches time. tx is full of their selves when i moved to Austin in 94 you couldn't pay nobody to go to the L H games. smh. all these professional think just bc you are successful at one place doesn't mean you are gonna be good at another place. they are saying you cant lose to kansas heck Houst lost to rice and they still hired Tom. these schools are a joke.

Between Mack Brown’s petty attempts to bury the program, and the bureaucratic red tape in hiring Saban. The Longhorns were doomed before the Charlie Strong hire. Charlie just cemented the fact that Dan Mullen was the only coordinator at the U of Florida, that had any actual coaching/leadership talent. +3 years, and Charlie was run off by USF. That speaks volumes.

That game was sloppy and was on the coaching. You can't shank a field goal, and turn the ball over 4 times. Not only that, Buechele had no business going back in the game with a neck injury. Poor decisions all around. I'm a believer in Charlie Strong, but god his decision making is terrible

Charlie Strong cleaned house and built a foundation that Tom Herman can add to. Coach Strong could have just wanted wins, forget the discipline and principles he wanted to establish, and just win at all costs like Art Briles with Baylor. Better to rebuild 3 years with a promising 4th year, than to rise and burn like Baylor did knowing NCAA will deservedly make it harder for Baylor to compete. That loss to the Jayhawks will be hard to forget, even 50 yrs from now. Hoping CS can rebound in 2018 elsewhere.
