Hey Charlie. A bit late finding this but really appreciate you coming over to my city! I’ve been here all my life. Most of London is generally pleasant and safe. You will occasionally find the odd stand alone home or housing complex that looks a bit run down compared to other areas of the city but other than that, it’s a very good place overall. This place is quite tame, even when you compare to some spots of Windsor. Some areas that stand out in terms of “ghetto” would be OEV, the whole Dundas strip, Horton Street area (basically south of the train tracks), Hamilton Road along towards Highbury, a portion of east London which includes Argyle and Trafalgar area, Limberlost, Kipps Lane, Millbank, King Edward, Hilton, Boulee, and possibly a few more. Nothing is crazy run down here. However, I wouldn’t fear your life in London. Ignore the crackheads downtown at night and you’ll most likely be fine
@SpencerGatten

Great Comment, I agree with most of what youre saying, even our bad areas really arent that bad, I also think East of adelaide is no where near as bad as it used to be. once you hit east of highbury there are so many good neighbourhoods and most of the dundas problems are gone by highbury. Lots of new builds out that way as well.

I think with London, and specifically this neighborhood, many of these wartime houses popped up during WWII. You see this in most larger cities where army bases are nearby. This one isn’t actually too bad. Hamilton has a very depressed area we drove through not too long ago. Sad to see. This area of London, it appears that many have tried to fix the places up. I see lots of new siding and some pride in the space. Thanks for the tour

Missed the actually rough areas tbh, like some strips on Dundas St. Although the areas im thinking are more rampant homelessness/crime areas so idk if that counts as "hood"? I do deliveries all over, London is weird in that the shitty parts are super concentrated into single blocks and buildings. The areas shown here are actually where I feel relived to be in after going thru sketchier areas lol. I'm a bit annoyed at the comments here tho, people seem to think London is doing better than it is imo cause the areas that are actually disturbing are unseen- theres no reason to go there if you arent a junkie or forced to for work. All that being said I dont usually feel in direct danger cause most people mind their own business and wont bother you if you are too. Theres not a ton of guns but theres pretty regular stabbings

If you ever come through Edmonton, hit up 118th ave, 107th ave, City Center, China Town, McCauley, Boyle street. It's always been bad but its gotten a lot worse over here. Gangs, drugs, random violence and killings are out of control. The kids are out of control. And it's Zombieland. We got a new Rogers arena and a couple of the tallest skyscrapers in Western Canada built right in the middle of it all. Directly behind the arena there's a soup kitchen with a little tent city. Before the Pandemic the tents weren't out there. But it's become so bad that pretty much all of downtown is tent city.

Ppl suffering from mental health and addiction struggles are usually in large numbers up and down Hamilton rd. and other streets in London. Having a community and a government that shows compassion and provides Healthcare and social programs to try and help our vulnerable population out from the death grips of this cycle is the difference. Eventhough we might have these programs and such, we still could do so much more for our vulnerable population.

And you will rarley find abandond properties, lots or garbage everywhere like in hood neighborhoods like detroit. Yes you will get the house where its renters that dont give to Fs and maintain property but it ls not gangs on corners, drugs and shootings. Just like here in Peterborough London is very similiar where there is one block that has bad reputation due to a few bad incidents but most people are hard working individuals, even alot of younger people that are first time home buyers can get better deals.
