If Louisiana received compensation for its oil like others states do (Alaska, Texas, etc) it would be one of the wealthiest states in the country. All the rigs are in federal waters JUST outside the state’s jurisdiction. Federal government been robbing these people for far too long.

Just chatting with a friend earlier this week about the various factors impacting Louisiana and how many of us want to move back home, but there’s little opportunity. After being educated in Monroe/Shreveport, we stayed for a bit but left - giving our entire lives generating tax revenue for other states. Leaders must court business and industry to improve the lives of its citizens. La must get oil revenue that’s due. People MUST stop this crazy political & racial division - that has allowed West Monroe to flourish while Monroe stays frozen in time. Very sad! We love our home state and the people there. (Any venture capitalists out there who want to assist? Any ideas? Time for collaboration and action!)

Thanks Charlie for sharing this history. I have watched your videos every then and now of cities you've visited throughout this America. I am from the generation of the 60's born in Brooklyn, N.Y and have visited many places on the East Coast before settling here in California. As I watch your video's I can see that much of Black America is in a generational trend of stalemate with themselves. Too many of these places appear to have not seen much progress since the 60's and 70's. Our loyalty to the Democratic Party left us in limbo. Too many being half ass educated, working for other people for minimum wages or dependent on government assistance in order to progress and survive , and these communities you drive through look like forgotten territory were the undesirable are left or placed to fade away. Somewhat depressing to watch, but I like some others need to see and to know. Thanks again for sharing.
