Went there a couple of years ago and it still looks the same. I drove around and you could tell at one time this was a great city with lots of jobs and industry. The only part of town that looked ok was germantown. I stayed downtown and it was nice there as well but most of the city was depressing.

I live massachusetts not one of our cities have abandoned neighborhoods even the rough looking corners. people still stay it's the high rents that make living here tough. unless you can afford a full apartment. the western side of the state is not quite as bad but still expensive for some rental offers.
@scottbrenham13419 сағат бұрын
so many old buildings are being put to use to make apartments plus lots of new ones being built. others have been torn down.

@-Ricky_Spanish-13 сағат бұрын
Loss of industry is the biggest cause. The Cotton Exchange closed in 1978, and in the 1980s most manufacturing jobs were sent overseas.

Really? Because it was Ronald Reagan that encouraged American companies to send their manufacturing jobs overseas. Our leaders ENCOURAGED industry to abandon this city and its people. What you're left with is the reality of corporate greed.
