It really is a good watch, it educates people how the work goes. Very interesting and entertaining. I work in a completely different sector and this is a very good watch. And that knowing that bricklaying is one thing, but making sure everything is to plumb, dealing with drawings and dimensions is a whole new level of responsibility.

I wish my Son had taken up the tools with me so I am a bit jealous mate. So much to teach and you cannot get better training than from a master. The guy that put me on the tools at age 15 was quality and a top bloke as he had only met me 3 days earlier. I guess I was half as good as him when he died 25 years ago but I'm forever thankful of the 12 years we did.

Sparkys have no finesse! They think they are the most important trade to ever exist, they can't put a fking socket in straight, they can't space them if someone wants two close together. They make mess everywhere they go and then they get paid twice as much as anyone else when MANY tradesmen can do their job, except they can't pass off so they have to pay a remedial to come and make a mess and think he's amazing because he can remember blue is neutral and brown is live and green doesnt matter cuz they never have any earth sleeving on them and use electrical tape if they can be bothered to get it from the bag 3 feet away. Sparky can't do anyone else's job though, especially anything with finesse like kitchen fitting. Mitre joints on worktops or make a corner post, can you imagine the state it would be?!

Jetwashing!! what a cop out for modern day brickies!!!! getting rid of the snots you cant be arsed to clean up!!! Although saying that in a vid from last week you were working next to the showhouse (gable build?) you could clearly see the scaffold line that was a great big dirty line of cement, good look for a showhouse (I know you didn't build it) but what do site managers do ffs apart from think they know it all. I must admit I like your style of bricklaying I used to be a labourer in my 20's (a while ago) used to do it for 2 brickies, I used to get to work at 6:45 they turned up at 8:00 busted my ass all day, they used to leave for me to joint up and clear up, most miserable bastards ever!! but the money was good (i'm talking 30yrs ago and was on £80 a day!!) I also like that you have patience when dealing with the others, although sometimes you seem to explain it in what you think are simple terms, simple to you but with zero experience its still gobblegook, I'm guilty of doing the same thing, it's easy to forget that at one point you knew nothing, so anything still means nothing! Love the channel (apart from the live stream when your not both pissed and what happened to last Fridays Fish & chip run !!!?
@Luckytrowel123 жыл бұрын
At the Taylor Whimpey site I'm on they let us build all the brickwork first, that's because they pay us to joint up the cavity side of the brickwork. I'm on day work so the subby I work for must be earning a fortune for that alone. I agree with what you said about working alone. I enjoy that too.

The reason for building the block work first and pointing up both sides is because of air tightness . Buildings now have to be air tight to keep the heat in and no draughts . When internal walls were wet plastered any small gaps would be filled in by the plaster . Now as walls are dot and dab plasterboard you can get cold air behind the boards causing cold spots and mould etc
