I love, nay NEED! to run my nightly scales with an old school Wittner metronome takes about 1-1/2 hours to complete Afterwards it’s running jam tracks as playlists without knowing the key or progression and improvising unless I have studio duties or learning Covers for bands that I’m working with for paying shows Pretty much my life right now ✌🏻

@@jackschijven8219 actually part of the message here is you don’t have to be overly proficient with the elements…you can make a lot of music with a few triad shapes and a couple of the pentatonic patterns. I’m encouraging people to start being creative sooner and being a little less worried about “proficiency” - that will come with time.

Get a book on beginner music theory. It's actually very simple stuff, and it will unlock so much more potential for yourself. I have been playing forever as well and finally bought a set of music theory books and feel dumb for not learning this stuff before. Like I said before, it's way more simple than it sounds. Most of the stuff you probably play in some form, but you don't know why it works.
