So.... I don't get it... These are supposed to be the scavengers that are getting stuff for "the city" right? But they're able to just spend two years in the middle of no where building shit? I guess the city doesn't really need them afterall

It’s the prologue. Serving as a tutorial. Wait for episode 2 and 3 to get a feel for the game.

@@CharliePryor Yeah... but why are these guys that are "vital" to getting supplies for the city just allowed to spend 2 years making a base in the middle of no where and spending and using all their supplies? How far away is the city that it they can't just take those two years and get there instead? Does this mean they're like 10 years away from the city or something? That's crazy To be able to spend 2 years doing nothing in the snow and bunker up for this "whiteout" that they somehow can foresee two years out in the future is weird. For them to not just go back to the city right away means that they're *further* than two years away from the city. Which means they send these guys out and they come back in 5-10 years. But they also need to bring a ton of supplies with them to be able to build stuff instead of bringing it back to the city

@@Foxador look at their vehicle. It’s obviously been damaged and resources are scattered. They have to spend time collecting whats out there, in hopes that they can survive the whiteout. They are temporarily trapped there. This delay also makes their food supplies constrained, so they need to work the land they have to get enough to last through the coming storm. Its then assumed, once the storm passes, they the struggle to survive is taken care of, but we do not see any clear indicators of how long passes until they reach New London. If you have, say, 100 resources, and you can spend them on making these outpost-style structures that allow your people to survive long enough to collect thousands of resources safely from the cold, that’s a worthy spend. That’s what I got from it They didn’t know they were vital to the success of the new city. The leader of that city died shortly before we arrive, and as we, the Steward of this moving group, have lead our team to survival already, we’re temporarily taking to leading this new location from their dark time. In the next video, we get voted in as leader, so long as we don’t screw it up first,

@@CharliePryor It's not their vehicle tho? The dreadnought that they're using for shelter has always been there since before the snow. They even said in the intro that they came across the old machine once again, as they always do. Dreadnoughts are old pre-snow tech that the current people are unable to make again nor use since they all break down. Anyways, I think the disconnect is that I thought it these "wanderers" were part of the city, but they're not. They're just people that wander around for the lols of it. It's never once implied that the people you play in the prologue are people that come across new london. It's just a tutorial to show you how to play and then it warps over to new london. If you wanna believe it's the same people, that's on you and that's your opinion and that's fine. It just doesn't say that once in the game. There's no voting in or anything. It's just a new game saying "hello steward" Anyways, I'm just not a huge fan of how they changed things from the first game as it feels very impersonal. And the people being physic now in being able to see storms 2 years advance is laughable

Wow, they ditched everything that makes the original one of the greatest games out there. Weeks instead of days, and archaic style hex board, macro control instead of micro, dynamic buildings changed to hex shaped districts. The nerve to call this a new Frostpunk and associate it with the original masterpiece is staggering. Pretty graphics, lots of cinematic scenes and overly verbose messages don't make up for trashing the game play. Which bright spark thought garishly colour coding the districts was needed, clearly he has no faith that the players might have some modicum of intelligence.
