CHARLIER "No. 1: De L'Articulation" (for Trumpet with Piano)

Here is a new setting with piano on one of the most popular etudes from Théo Charlier’s “Twenty-six Transcendental Studies.” “De L’Articulation,” the first in the book, is a straight ahead technique piece with quite a bit of gymnastic playing.

This is part of on ongoing project of mine to create piano settings of my favorite Charlier etudes. As I explained in the description of the first of these, “No. 2: Du Style,” for many years, I’ve imagined how perfectly this piece (and some of the others from his book) would sound with piano accompaniment. It is not even that the etudes themselves are at all lacking, but simply a desire to give them even greater impact, and perhaps provide an attractive option for public performance.
