I've watched a few reaction videos of this new song by Dirty Loops and you are the first one to pick up on the parody. Clearly they are making fun of 80's and 90's over-the-top pop songs. Aside from the crazy antics the choice of wardrobe gave it away. Jokes aside ,these are some of the most talented young musicians on the planet. Dirty Loops never disappoint.

It's amazing & hilarious! I love it that even when they're not taking themselves seriously, their musicianship remains top level. I have this image in my head: Stereotypical Record Executive (like in the movies): Ok fellas! This time write me a hit! I need catchy! I need easy lyrics! And for Godsakes it's gotta be shorter than your usual concertos! We've gotta get this damn thing on the radio! Dirty Loops: Got it! Let's do this thing! 😉 Aron at video rehearsal: Ok Superstar Ken, I mean Jonah, keep the glasses, but I think we've gotta nix the dancers, I'm having Eurovision flashbacks..." 😂

I think its a spot on 80s-parody with Jonah looking like Elton John, Henrik like Steve Stevens and Aron with the typical head band and armless t-shirt. Very funny anyway and a great performance as usual. :)

YES! Finally someone who picks up on what I think they're doing... I think it's supposed to be a parody (of presentation) of 80's rock with the clothes and over-the-top number of keyboards and drums and light show and fake limbs etc. That said... they're still shredding it, especially Henrik, and showing their musicianship and having fun like they always do.

Now you mention it, it kinda *does* sound like a parody lmfao! And now that I think of it, it feels like the dynamic here was a lot more laid back while Henrik quite literally took centre stage and was like, “aight, y’all ready for this?! 😏” 😂 These guys literally *never* cease to amaze me, even a decade later!! 😭 👏🏼

So I love me some Dirty Loops/Loops & Wong etc… My grammar goes out the window. Me just listening saying “Play then, sing then” the whole time. So cool that you are a fan. If your music Spidey sense doesn’t go off when you listen to Dirty Loops and your face doesn’t scrunch up to that music face (y’all know the one I mean) go back and listen again it might be broken. Love all the parities, humor and homage they have in their music with this crazy level of musicianship. Can’t take it all that seriously right? Ready for a new album and I know you will review it when it drops. Another great one, thank you!!

Good to see you back with DLoops, Charlie! Yes, this song, to me, is a gigantic parody of sorts, taking the mickey out of almost everything to do with mega glam pop and rock. I’ve never listened to Taylor Swift, so don’t know if that’s a sendup of her style, but could very well imagine ;) AND you’ve missed Henrik doing his epic splitz! Watch again, at the end of his second solo 🤣 He’s also got ARON’s name written on his fake hand, -someone said: most likely because Aron not just edits their videos, but writes so much of their material, including lots of Henrik’s bass solos 😱 the dude’s phenomenal. He’s wearing a sweatband, and at the start plays some device wobbling precariously on one of his toms (?) His kit, see-through and super sized, is just for looks too, I think :) Everything about them is silly and hilarious. All the while they’ve managed to write a catchy, epic sounding tune, putting Henrik and his mad skillz centre stage. And yeah, the credits have a lot of Swedish in-jokes, such as a 75-year old wife of a controversial ex-politician doing the beatboxing ;) I think it’s fine to read them privately, no need for sharing, from my perspective-. Can’t wait for the rest of their new album to drop!!

Overall, it's a Stadium Rock Anthem parody. Maybe the song is related to Taylor Swift "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"her lyrics "We are *_never ever ever ever_* getting back together" vs Dirty Loop at 5:08. People often say Henrik has such amazing bass skills he's "an alien" maybe even has an extra hand. His tapping seems Eddie Van Halen, or Steve Vai, See his splits at 5:03. Reactors comment that Jonah has "Boy band" looks, and he's wearing early 'boy band' clothes with maybe Elton John glittery spec frames, and he's pulling some 'boy band' dance moves (arms so open his hands are behind him, fist pulling down, etc.). Jonahs also playing the "Rock Keyboard God" split and banked keyboards (eg. Rick Wakeman, and *all* Stadium Rock keyboard players, eg Dire Straits keyboard player, on 'Alchemy Live' tour.). Aron is playing a classic Stadium Rock, transparent giant drum kit. He is wearing a pink headband, a white 'muscle' T, and what looks like pink tights. The T has "Dirty Loops" written on the back in a familiar font, I can't quite see, but it might be the "Def Leppard" font. I don't recognise Aron leaning back, almost horizontal, to play, but I bet that is famous for some band. Best Wishes. ☮

It's wonderful to here and read all the theories about what this song and videos actually "is"! All always, they manage to mix in so many things in the song, and still it's a unity, even with Henrik's solos (after some listening, when you don't really at all now your stuff, like me).

Yeah, bonkers's right! In a great way. The fake hand with the blood and Aron's name on it - if I understand it right, Aron's writing most of Henrik's bass-solos. Maybe this one is so crazy that Henrik needs two extra hands for it? And to practice till the hands bled? 😅 The credits are worth to us from Sweden - references to the 80's swedish profiles, some other usual DL silliness and at the end they thank a well known pastry factory, toilet paper producer, funeral company and WeightWatchers... 😂😂😂

I think the double-neck bass is an actual Mattison bass -- fretted on the top neck, headless fretless on the bottom neck. But it seems to be there purely for the sight gag. I wouldn't be surprised if Henrik spotted it in the shop and borrowed it for the video or something. I had the pleasure of seeing them play this live a few weeks ago. It rocked. But Henrik only used the single-neck pink bass, two arms, and no splits. 🤷🏼‍♂ That bit at the beginning (3:00) I think is a combination of Henrik through a ton of effects and Jonah doubling bits of it on the keys, plus maybe some production to do the stutter effect. He's definitely doing some crazy tapping and slapping through a ton of effects plus a multi-octave whammy.

So for the credits most of the easter eggs I feel like were for the swedish audience this time (sorry). Goofy credits: RUNar Sögaard (swedish preacher) - baasoon/bagpipe gudRUN Schyman (swedish feminist politician) - background beatboxing Tattoo artist - Henrik Linder @ It’s not a phase mom tattoo and body modification studios Capybara-folder (someone got a thanks for folding the backdrop with the metalhorn capybara?) Serla toalettpapper (toilet paper brand) Fonus (funeral home) Delicato (pastries brand) Viktväktarna (Weight Watchers) Cool credits: A total of 23 musicians playing violin, viola, cello and double bass on this track. Kinda epic?!

I seems like they manage to layer in so many different styles that people see them having fun with. Just being able to do that bit is probably quite amazing, since no influence gets to shadow any other, it all just blends very nicely, visuals and music alike. Not a composer, so can't really tell how hard it is to accomplish this. It's like a really good layered cake, with some surprises mixed in. I love that! Maybe cake and coffee break now! Or is it over?

It’s more a parody of the legend of Paganini selling his soul to the devil so he could play the violin as no one else had before or since. Many clues in the video to that beginning with Henrik holding hands with the devil in red.
