Guys. This song is a fucking DECADE OLD! Clearly some of you sanctimonious commenters have not been paying attention to Charlotte's career trajectory - she gave up doing pop music years ago and is now a highly-renowned and respected rock/experimental musician. I still think this stands up as a decent tune, and she looked amazing in this video - but it's seriously old news. Where have you lot been???

Some of you people need to realize that this song was released almost FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. If you've been stuck in her old music from the 90's all this time and JUST realizing that she did a pop album (actually 2 including Back To Scratch) and an AMAZINGLY produced EP series that has some Kate Bush/Björk vibe, you all have been incredibly blind to ALL the music this artist has been creating on her own. Don't expect her to come back to classical. SHE WON'T. And she's happy! GO CHARLOTTE

+Cherry LaBelle I agree that she should have stuck with classical instead of trying to be the typical trampy Brittney Spears type, she could have been a very famous opera singer by now. When she started to do this kind of music people stopped listening to her and kind of forgot about her.

These girls are not angels and never were. It's that image they are forced to live up to that drives them out of the classical world and into pop. They are human beings and need to be allowed to be mere humans like the rest of us. I can't blame Charlotte at all for not wanting to have to live her life like she had a stick up the backside to make them happy.

Although many of us preferred to hear her sing opera, she did mentioned that she wants to do pop songs for now and maybe later in her life, she will go back to opera again. Well, she is grown up now and I think everyone should do what they love to do and not what people want them to do. All young stars go through a rough patch. Some emerged shining, like Christina Aguilera (remember her nose, chin piercing days?) whereas some fell and never got up (Lindsey Lohan, anyone?). Let's just watch and pray that Charlotte Church will emerge a shiny star.

nice tune, shame about all the critics who can't stand the concept of change and experimenting with different forms of music. Much as I'm sure all of you would prefer she stayed a saintly 14 year old I think her life would've been far less interesting in that event
@warblerab29554 жыл бұрын
I don't know how interesting her life would have been. To me, this isn't about staying saintly or staying 14, this is about the fact that she should have continued to sing saintly. This is a waste of an amazing voice.

@Ronjohn735 жыл бұрын
I have always known Church as Classical. You would think with all her technique and ability, the transition is a piece cake. It's not. Some can do it and some can't. With singing, it's all in the ear and the feel no matter what genre. She has always had both and that counts!When I first read about her transitioning to Pop I was curious and honestly, not expecting much. So I listened to this song, and the rest the album it is from. But, I did it without watching any videos with it. I didn't want anything visual to affect my judgement. The feeling I ended up with was purity at it's best. That white girl from Wales has got IT! You can tell didn't just listen to Beethoven, Bach and Brahms (to name a few), but also Aretha, Christina, Pink, Donna, MJ, Amy W (of whom she has performed with) as well. You hear a plethora of influences and a heap of talent from those lungs. The Soul here is real and not forced. And the musicians sound amazing! Not too many electronic synths on that album. That in itself is commendable.So I am just seeing this video for the first time. Yes she looks hot in it (really sexy actually). Yes the production and chorography are top notch. But honestly, I am glad I heard the tune without the video first. The whole album is great!You go girl!

I guess according to the comments on here an artist should not try to different things. No one likes just one genre of anything. Whether its good or not is a different story but plenty of artists have tried to do other things because hey why not. For me it's nice to know that voice has different ranges. Better voice than a whole lot of pop stars I've heard.

giggi4455 Church never sang opera. And she still has a far better voice than Miley - if we're talking from a technical aspect, even after years of smoking she could blow Miley out the water.
@cyt66589 жыл бұрын
giggi4455 No, you're an idiot. Show me a link to her singing opera. Do you know what opera is? Obviously not. You're clearly one of those people who thinks opera is just one song sang with a classical style. Opera is an actual full on art form where the singer must project their voice 10x more than an average pop star and even more so than someone who is just classically trained like she is because they have to perform without a microphone. Charlotte ALWAYS sang with a mic no matter how small or far away it was from her mouth and she never performed opera - operas are shows that last at least 2 hours at a time and include acting and even dancing as well and she herself says she never sang or did opera: /watch?v=Chvk_NyLUa0 (4:15) so oops to you. She's only ever sung a few arias from operas but that isn't opera and she's never actually sung in an opera or to the level of an opera singer.

Exactly. How many years has she stood stoically on stages in long gowns belting out classical operas, carols and the like? Let the girl shake it a little. It's her voice, she gets to do with it what she wants. She's given the public what they have asked of her for years. Nothing wrong with her exploring new venues and having some fun. Why is it that we are allowed to grown and change, but public figures are condemned for it?
