You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this. In 1973 I was 18 and took my 7 year old brother to see it. Paul Lynde as Templeton really injects the adult humor into it. Legendary cast for the voices.

The very first movie I ever saw in a theater, with both my mom and dad. I was 5. I cried at the sad ending, and I think they felt bad, so we went to the pet store and bought a black and white rat and named him Templeton. This trailer brings it all back like it was yesterday. Great memories of a simpler time.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the 1973 film charlotte's Web and that film has been a great classic over the years, it even aired on TV like on boomerang, maybe cartoon network and before those channels, Disney Channel played that film before the others during the 1990s.

I remember this American animated film from the early 1970s all right. I watched it on telly when I was younger. I know it was produced by Hanna-Barbera who were most famous for The Flintstones,The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo and Yogi Bear). Despite Hanna-Barbera library being owned by Warner Bros., I think Paramount, a subsidiary of Paramount Global (former names: Viacom and ViacomCBS) stills owns the right of this 1970s animated film. Anyway I am still watching and I still like it as well.

This is such a lovely film. The songs are classics and the story so touching. I remember seeing this version at the cinema, in widescreen with fantastic surround sound and good picture quality. What on earth has happened to this original release. The subsequent DVD + VHS releases have had poor video quality and only mono sound.

That's why this movie was a classic because it captured Charlotte's Web so well and how it all worked out at the end. The whole time, we thought it was more on Wilbur. This movie taught kids about animals for sure man. Back when Disney animation was almost realistic until it got too 3D etc and a bit fake.

Remember when this was on TV and it was an event? No rewinding. You sat and watched quietly. Yes, Charlotte died, but Wilbur didn't end up on the breakfast table. This may have been many children's first taste of death, but is shows how people's efforts and memories live on. It's OK to cry. It's part of the human experience.

Charlotte is a black widow.~ No. She's a trapper spider. She even mentions it in the novel & alludes to it as part of her daily living in this film by saying, "What with all this trapping & eating flies, a spider's life can't help but be something of a mess. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my own life a trifle."

I forgot the name of the show, but there was a shark who spoke like "Larry" from The Three Stooges. Why isn't the soundtrack out on CD, since the DVD's already been out? Both are SO classic, yet SO timeless ;) 0:32 Growing up, I always thought the voice of Fern was done by a grown-up. Boy, was I wrong when I later found out she was child actor Pamlyn Ferdin who was then 13 or 14 at the time. But in either case, Pamlyn always had such a cute, articulate voice that was also very mature for her age too, so I guess she had me (and probably everone else) fooled. :)
