All you need to do is follow the 💵... "fish" will *never* be included in the animal cruelty legislation because that would open up commercial fishing to legal citation and there's nothing "humane" about the way fish are harvested... even recreational angling might be shut down as imagine arguing that putting a metal hook through the face of a 🐕 or a 🐄 as not being animal cruelty 💯

Something stinks, and it's not the fish!!! Charlotte is being exploited if you ask me, and perhaps a full investigation should be done. YES it was a marketing ploy. GREED

It reminds me of those women that were on Dr Phil who were saying they’d been pregnant for 3 and 4 years. They even claimed to have at least 3 uteri. They refused to believe the Ultrasounds they were given. I think it was all a big excuse so they could eat more food 😂 The woman with Charlotte was definitely a scammer which is why she blocked experts. Charlotte was her little cash cow - oops Ray 😂 and it was deliberate! Horrid woman 🤬 I love Stingrays as they have that happy little smiling face. Too cute 🥰 ❤

Can you do a video on Tamayo Perry shark attack incident please. What shark and how you think the incident occurred for him to lose his life in Hawaii. So sad to hear. I remember him on Pirates of the Caribbean.

Can’t believe you covered parthenogenesis without mentioning the scientifically documented velociraptors of Jurassic Park. They caused havoc.
@tammyfrancis78564 ай бұрын
3:09 It is such common sense that sharks and stingrays can not breed, I don’t feel sorry for anyone who was fooled. Parthenogenesis was the only possibility for Charlotte being pregnant. The owner of the shop, and the person who first suggested this cross breeding, was a TEACHER? I get why she is not a teacher anymore, but how does someone that unintelligent get a teaching job in the first place?

I can't make up my mind--either she's thoroughly dishonest, and it was a hoax, or she's thoroughly ignorant, and really thought it possible. Trouble is, the reaction to being told it's impossible is more like a low-grade con artist.

What I learned more from this is more the problems with people learning about science and education getting messed up through social media due to sensationalism - and how worrying that can be since lots of people use social media for education (especially when a lot of our current education systems currently need a lot of updates and some areas are underfunded). It's also worrying when the news media picked this up too, and that attempts to keep the misinformation down didn't work since social media is built on entertainment and education is a rare addition (this channel being one of the few legit educational content - but a majority of Internet users unfortunately gravitate towards sensationalism over education). :(

Thanks for the update Krys - when I filmed my take on this topic a couple of months ago I was still holding out hope for a successful "Jesus stingray' - but it's so sad how it unfolded after that. It sucks for Charlotte, who didn't get the care she deserved, and for stingrays in general who still continue to get bad press!

Life is like soup sometimes. Like the frogs that change genders during mating season. That's super weird. But nature when you study it is full of special cases and bizarreness.
@lornayounger14144 ай бұрын
@redelfshotthefood8213 I agree, but this whole thing was very suspicious, especially denying specialists access to Charlotte and not allowing their input, and not answering their questions.

Thankfully I didn't hear about this until the debunking scientists came along. But I was excited to hear from you as well. edit: also the way to help get laws changed is to (ideally) be a NC resident and talk to your local government representatives, either through their emails, or calling, or writing letters to let them know that you think the animal welfare laws are not enough and need to be revised. It's a slow process, but it can help animals in the future. If you're not a resident I *think* you can still write in, but technically you can effect the laws in your own state/city instead.

I used to work about a block from this aquarium for almost a decade. The aquarium, and I use that term very very loosely, was always kind of a joke in town. Anyway. Something that I think a lot of people don't know is that Hendersonville North Carolina is not near the coast, it's in the Blue ridge mountains. It's just right outside of Asheville. So it was always kind of funny that there was this aquarium in downtown Hendersonville, a town known for beautiful mountains, black bears, and apples. The aquarium always had the sketchy nature to it to the point where I don't even want to call it an aquarium, let's be honest, it was just an overgrown fish shop. I had a sneaking suspicion that the aquarium was probably going under due to financial reasons, and this was a quick cash grab for them.

Yeah, definitely not anything Id consider an "aquarium". Apparently it only held a handful of people. I wish the public would do more research before blindly believing everything.

I personally don’t think there should be animals held in captivity, not wild ones anyway. Zoos in aquariums were really good and really educational back before the Internet when I was a kid when you didn’t have the opportunity to see these animals in their natural habitats but now we have the Internet and any child can go any animal and find its natural habitat, zoo, or aquarium, except to make money. Some zoos do a lot of work with conservation and working with endangered species and that’s fine but you don’t have to sell tickets to do that. You don’t have to make, and they certainly should not be trained to do any tricks!
@ckm57023 ай бұрын
Other than sea world the only "tricks" animals do in modern zoos and aquariums are natural behavior demonstrations (like cheetahs chasing something, birds flying, caracals jumping, ect.) Really simple stuff they do anyway to educate guests and medical exam training (opening their mouth, showing a certain body part, turning in a circle) again minor things that youd do at the doctor to make sure the animal is healthy cuz animals often hide illness and injuries till its too late As for the money thing. Some zoos are fortunate enough to be free with a lot of funding from their local city or something but feeding all those animals isn't cheap and keepers and vets got bills to pay
@Rebornation07123 ай бұрын
@@ckm5702 just my opinion that animals should be free unless people intervene for conservation purposes
@ckm57023 ай бұрын
@Rebornation0712 zoos the world over have been key players in conservation for decades. Black rhino, Arabian oryx, California condor, amur leopard, prezwalski horse, bald eagle, blue iguana, Panamanian golden frog, scimitar horned oryx, piere david deer, island night lizard, peregrine falcon, Irabian lynx, Mexican red wolf, Tanzanian spray toad, all were completely wiped out in their native range at one point or close to it but have had a comeback thanks to breeding and rewinding programs by zoos. Not to mention less severely endagered species that have had increases, most notable pandas being the mascot of endagered species being upgraded from endagered to vulnerable. Not to mention most (least in more development first world countries) are completely non profit and most of the money raised is distributed to conservation projects around the world There most deffinatly are shitty zoos out there (namely redneck roadside tourist traps or ones in poorer countries where animal welfare laws are minimal or non existant) and even some subpar habitats in otherwise good zoos but when done right can be massive players in healing the planet

It's s cute little aquarium, they take in exotic pets that people can't care for anymore, but I wouldn't necessarily say that they're in the business of educating the public. It's a nice little distraction or an excursion for young kids with short attention spans that just want to look at fish, out see turtles being hand feed. But with tanks labeled with little to no information about their inhabitants, I wouldn't really expect to learn much.
