The thing that has immediately hits home on these videos lately is how quickly the pressures of Dairy farming are compared to what you did previously,even with the transfer being so easy and pain free from the cows you purchased. As dairy farmers all our life,we often forget how much knowledge and skills we require and how dedicated we have to be as it's so much more demanding . On the mastitis and feet cases,getting cow muck sorted is key to future success,this will help cubicle beds also.A rotary brush cleaner for bed cleaning will become invaluable in time. Be good to get them outdoors soon even for a couple of hours each end of day to help the cleaning process Good luck

You are a great fun loving kind hearted person, saving a little feral stoggie, and taking all this new dairy stuff in your stride , that last outro scene says it all... ❤❤❤

@@charlotteashleyfarm it is indeed beautiful. 30 minutes to the beach and 3 and a half hours to the Sierra Nevada mountains, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Rolling hills with an abundance of oak trees that Angus Cattle roam on. It really is a special place.

At 15:26, that cow thinks "Groovy, obviously" Had to take a break to listen to the Young Rascals, Groovin' (on a Sunday afternoon). ❤❤ Funnily enough, was watching HoofGP yesterday and thinking, 'I wonder if Charlotte is going to have to get a regular hoof trimmer now'. Answered before I even asked.

The floor grooving is a great job just watch you don’t catch the bucket when you’re scraping out. I didn’t think there was as much work with dairy cows. We learn something new every day.

It is so great to see a Lancashire lass doing farming .. makes me so proud..xxx I was introduced to your channel through Tom P… anywho…. I do not understand this whole Robot stuff can you explain to an ordinary mortal .. the closest I’ve ever got to farming of being an end user and a huge supporter of farming lol
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
Thank you! Tom P is a great support, he’s been a good friend to me and Roy. The robot allows the cow the cow to voluntarily milk, it’s her call when she gets milked and the computer allows her an amount of food if she’s due to be milked, it’s a very relaxed environment x

Have you thought of a gate bar across the entrance to the robots to keep errant cows out. It could be used on outside with an ordinary door recuperator so you can pass quickly and easily and bar remain closed!

if you have that many cases of mastitis then I would check everything on robots is working properly.Is chemical going on the brushes when teats are cleaned and is the post milking spray being applied ok.We had a problem once in herringbone and it was caused by the vaccume running a bit low
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
Oh don’t worry it’s all the change and the move things are settling down now :)

Remember me commenting that you'll always need a strawed area, box, yard, with plenty of straw build up, for exactly that reason- any down cow won't want to try to get up if there's no grip for them. Best thing you could've done was in the bucket, out on grass and the cow proved it. If I could have £10 for each cow iv done it with over 32-34 yrs, I'd have a nice little sum. Not all cows will get up, if they damage themselves trying to get up on concrete etc or have had a real bad calving or become really sick for what ever reason, its a tough call as to what will happen. Make sure you've a drugs cupboard with all you need, so any treatment can be sorted ASAP. Obviously in a parlour a mastitis cow would be treated there n then, so get the drugs into the cow asap. Sorry for the ramble x

I do remember that you were totally right as always great advice x x x x

@charlotteashleyfarm not trying to be a smart arse believe me- I've always tried to share experience and the practicality of farming, especially dairy cows.

Rachel, not chewing her cud and ears not looking to perky. Drop in milk always means something, maybe coming into heat?
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
You’ve totally guessed it! One day I might know as much as you do, I hope so, thank you for commenting, this is all a learning curve especially the tech x
@jamesbrown7794Ай бұрын
Robots are great but cow management got to be 100 percent Need to finish the shed and get the scraping sorted easy to say I know but your making it extra hard for yourself
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
I’m politely pushing the fabricator and also the galvaniser for the rails so we can use the back pens. The cow who had ecoli mastitis has a history of mastitis and only has half a bag, we didn’t actually pay for her she was thrown in as she was milking. Scraping going to look very different tomorrow 😉😉

so i know you have both been planning dairy for a long time and educating yourselves as much as possible, but now you've had the cows a couple of weeks are you finding it easier than you thought, harder than you thought or exactly what you thought? p.s. i think Lisa would feel much better hearing you sing to her like the old days. lol 🤣😉.
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
It’s actually really enjoyable, calving a bit more refreshing than sucklers! Very much routine abs we’ve a few bit of finishing off to get done, out of our control with fabricator and galvaniser! Lisa is loving life with her new sheep friends!🙈😂

I don’t think your robots are setup right. Seen another video how dirty your milk sock was. I’d have them look at, plus change your post dip to something little thicker. Also jerseys sulk like hell. Got to be a little mean to be nice with them. Otherwise they’ll happily stay there and die.
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
Funnily enough I also said that I do wonder what the crack is there do the brushes need to stay on longer
@georgearmstrong9106Ай бұрын
ecoli mastitess is about as bad as it can be you want automatic scrapers in
@charlotteashleyfarmАй бұрын
I think it’s more to do with the cow having a history high conductivity and mastitis in all four quarters not the scrapers which will be robotic eventually
