17 June JERSEY COW TURNOUT- WOW HARD WORK, sheeting up the silage pit - Massey Ferguson 7S

Sheeting up the silage pit this is such a huge crop, hard work getting some fresh cows through for the first time. Scraping out with the solis tractor, the massey 7s goes back it is LUSH.
My name is Charlotte Ashley and as of earlier this month I’m a dairy farmer and we milk 120 jerseys and associated followers on two Lely astronaught A5s
-A quick rundown if you are new to the channel I’m not from farming, Social media started as a casual interest in photography and farming combined I was a very green city girl and had a very excitable view of farming sharing it with my friends from city areas and it has grown from that into youtube and all other associated platforms below.
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

When i lived on a farm to be with my horses we had 2 saddle back yard pigs Gurty and Truffles they used to get into so much mischeif .....even chased a police officer accross the yard 😂😂😂 once, ive never seen someone run so fast 😂. I miss those days. Lisa the yard cow 😊 shes the best so pleased she has recovered so well. Loving the vidioes Charlotte thank you so much they make my day! 💜

sometimes bucket feeding is easier than the teat - you put your hand it with a couple of fingers coming out of the milk and they learn to drink from the bucket by sucking on your fingers - love the crazy of the cows going out to grass

For a lot of years we taught them on buckets it was in some ways easier but these are meant to promote rumen development and stop cross suckline

There is something a little terrifying about hearing a large animal sniffing and snuffling at your bedroom window in the middle of the night re yard cows, not that we had such a thing, but sometimes they would break out of the field and into the garden around the house to help themselves to veg and ornamentals 😆
