This is exactly what I’ve went through as well. It’s odd because I know he’s still watching these videos because I got him hooked on charlotte! Hopefully he’ll see a segment about abuse and realize enough to give our things back. Sadly even with a P.O order he still holds all the kids and I’s things hostage in hopes we’ll somehow return. The law will not allow him to even be within 20 feet of our kids let alone us all go back, which I would NEVER do. I’m out of the abuse “fog” but not out of the thick of it yet. If anyone has any help I would appreciate more than my words could ever express. We lived in Georgia. May god bless you and any of you that can relate to even a part, god has plans for us all. I asked a very dear friend who was coming to our wedding for some wooden spoons (I love to cook). She was on a low income, it was about having her there and not feeling she had to spend a fortune on a gift (she was adamant she wanted to get us something). I love this! I was married in 1986. I still have & use a few of our wedding gifts. One couple gifted us these thick plastic placemats & cloth napkins. Years later our kitchen table was a tile top one. Our Daughter used one of those placemats when she played with playdoh! (Otherwise it’d get caught in the grout) I’d smile whenever I saw her playing on those placemats and we used them for decades lol We also got Corningware bakeware! I got it in the divorce (we made it to 28 years married, 30 together) I still love & use that Corningware 😊 My Sister in Law always gifts a big wall clock! Everyone knows this and LOVES THIS!! ❤ when my Daughter got married She was so excited about getting that clock lol

Went to my cousin's wedding a few weeks ago and everything went off without a hitch, even with drinking involved. The venue was owned and operated by a husband and wife. He cooked while she officiated and then was the bartender for the evening. She told me we were an amazing group and she was so happy to host for us. I was a little surprised at that but then I remembered these videos. Yeah, we were probably some of their best guests. Just had a nice evening and went home.

Yet another story. A friend of a friend of my parents as a photographer wanted $150 for exposure. Beautiful work and my dad tipped him $ 2000. Plus my dad put up his business cards at his shop and told everyone about this photographer. This was back in 82 and there was no way that my dad would pay only $150. Shoot, that didnt even cover the photographer's supplies and processing even back then. We took a chance and it was wonderful! It was a win win for all. The photographer grew his business like crazy just on my portfolio and recommendations and our pictures were stunning! Bless my dad who took a chance on an unknown photographer and helped with the photographers business. Priceless! Looking back and knowing my dad, he did it to help a young mans business. Again this was in 82. It literally shocks me when people 42 years later want photos for $150. Seriously, wtf?! That doesn't even cover supplies, let alone time. What are these brides thinking? Mind boggling! Ah the ignorance and cheapness! Ridiculous!

People ALWAYS think that doing it yourself is somehow cheaper than mass produced not hand made items.. I do beadwork, jewelry embrodery, beadweaving. It's expensive & it takes many many many many hours to complete. It can also be really difficult to find the right materials - must be ordered online & will add on MORE time & shipping costs + taxes.. If you chose cheaper materials the final look will NOT be the same & the durability is always an issue.. I also do a bit of sewing - buying fabrics is way more expensive than buying clothes from stores like bara, H&M etc But people ALWAYS think it's somehow cheaper than to buy it at a store. It has taken me years to get to the level I'm at now with the beadwork. People constantly ask why I don't sell my things - bcs so far it has not been worth the hassle & I wount be able to take an hourly rate for my work. Bcs no one would pay that (due to the MANY hours it takes to finnish the piece). I have sold a few pieces but I do not have an easy store or similar.. I do things for myself & I make gifts. So I do "custom" jewelry as a gift for friends & family..

Oh the skunk story! I decided to walk to my Walgreens a few blocks away. I was hit with the most horrendous smell. The smell followed me! Ugh! I got into Walgreens and just announced loundly that i think i was skunked. The customers were the absolute sweetest. Told me to stand outside. What?! They bought me vinegar, tomatoe juice to bathe in and to do my hair and clothes. They also bought me my little soda and snack. One of the stinkiest and yet sweetest stories i could ever tell. I walked back home with my goodies and my poor cats ran for the hills. In other words wouldn't come near me! Hid in cabinates too. Lmao! I was the stinky one!! Lol! At the time , it wasnt funny, many years later i can laugh. To whoever these random strangers are, thankyou with all my heart for helping me to destinkify and for your generosity!!! Amazing people that helped. That is my stinking stinky story. Lol.

Regarding the $30,000 cancelled wedding - I hope her uncle sues her for every penny and I hope the other guests do too. Serves her and her fiancé right. They could’ve had a very nice wedding for $30,000 but they were just trying to cheat the guests to pay for their lifestyle. And maybe I’m getting older and crankier, but if so many conditions were put on being a bridesmaid, this potential bridesmaid would be walking out the door, friendship or not. I do NOT understand the level of entitlement many brides have. My husband's family planned and paid for our very humble but incredibly fun wedding. The majority of the 100 guests were his family (we got married 3,000 miles away from my family) and it was a beautiful event and I was grateful for everything they did for us. Yes, the wedding cake was REAAAAALLY dry, but hey, they did their best!

Dealing with a bride who decided to let me go after we were BOTH scammed by one of her vendors- and despite all of the hours I put in after being let go trying to get her money back (I was unsuccessful) and the huge discount I gave on my services because we know each other (and only got half of since the second half would be charged closer to her wedding), she’s mad at *me* for not paying her out of my own pocket or going to court in her place… End of rant. When I worked at Walmart bakery, we had a customer propose there. But it was rather cute. They had met in front of the bakery, and he got us to write the proposal on a cake, put it out as a display and then surprised her when they were out just shopping as far as she knew. Very sweet. She said yes and was completely surprised

These are mind-blowing! My husband and I got married 5 years ago, we had 50+ people come, we INSISTED no-one bring us any gifts (although some did anyway and they were all lovely, small items like a small kitchen clock and a small candle in a jar) Almost everyone brought something to share for the buffet style meal and everything tasted incredible! My hubby wore a nice pair of trousers and a cute shirt he found at JD's and I got a cute dress from shein for £10, did my own hair and makeup, everyone wore exactly what they wanted - including white, shorts, tux - literally whatever they felt good in. We had an absolute blast, even some guests went down to the local supermarket part way through as the wine had ran out. All in all I think we spent £150 all in. BEST DAY ever, BEST 5 years since, and everyone still raves about it now saying they have never been to such a happy, stress free wedding.

My now husband and I had already spent the month prior building shelter in the local forest for the deer over the cold Minnesotan winter and decided to turn it into a make shift church! Made me remember some fun things about my own wedding, and how GRATEFUL I am that my best friend from Kindergarten (50 freakin' years ago!) was never a bridezilla, and I like to think I wasn't one either (but my dad, however, was Very Particular about things for the reception. Dad went OFF MENU at the meeting with the banquet coordinator!) The only big drama I've ever witnessed was when at my friend's out-of-town wedding, one of the groomsmen realized he was gay and came out the night before the wedding to another groomsman who didn't take it at all well, so Gay Groomsman came to cry on MY shoulder so he wouldn't ruin the day for Bride And Groom. The wedding itself went off well, and when Bride and Groom were informed about the situation, towards the end of the reception, they took it very well indeed. We're still friends with everyone who was involved (and homophobe has gotten over himself... it's been over twenty years, after all). 👰💒

Speaking of cleaning up a wedding. When I remarried a few years ago my friends son asked his mom who the bride was as I walked down the aisle. When she told him that’s Kathleen. His response was no it’s not! she never looks that nice! I was a working artist at the time and was usually in paint stained T’s and jeans when he saw me…lol… I never wore my good clothes when working because they ended up with crap all over them.

I have seen and heard so many women who complain about their husbands who play video games and I don't understand why. Look. I got married 40 years ago. My mother made my dress (very elegant Grecian style which i can still shockingly fit into!). My church put it all together. My colors were those of the wild sweet violet which grows so densely here. (My fav flower EVER!) My best friends held a bridal shower at my best cousin's house and we had an absolute blast!! I didn't care what anyone else wore. I didn't even notice. I was just happy to be married to my love. We had a three day honeymoon in Memphis at the Peabody Hotel courtesy of my parents. Then I moved 1,200 miles away from the only town I ever lived in to start my life with my husband. There was none of this requirements re: hair color, shape, size, $$$ gift demands. And I'm still married to the same fella!!+ What is wrong with these brides today? Seriously...

About the towels for wedding gift: One relative on my husbands side, who didn't have access to the wedding registry, gifted us a high quality, nice toilet brush. To me, that was a really nice idea because we kind of started with hardly anything but my in-laws and my husband took offence. Luckily we opened the presents after the honeymoon and my appreciation for the brush hopefully ballanced my husbands opinion 😅. We were really grateful to everybody who supported our start. Most of the items are still in use after 35 years - not the brush though cause even high quality has its limits 😂

I could never imagine being THIS entitled for my wedding. I made my own center pieces, using a swivel square photo block, with mints in the middle and freeze dried flower petals around them. I made the wedding favors- spray painted treasure chests with the wedding colours, and put a d6 and d20 in each (husband and I are D&D nerds. he even had d20 cufflinks, and my garter had a d20 that said "roll to seduce with advantage" lol) flowers are fucking expensive for something that dies quickly, so I found some really nice fake flower bouquets. flower girl's petals were freeze dried. When choosing bridesmaids dresses, I tried to keep everyone's body type in mind. and told them they can wear any nice shoes that were silver. I also made sure to pick dresses that were under $100, because I know they'll probably wear it once or twice. (Tho they all looked BEAUTIFUL, so I hope they'll wear the dress more. Especially my MoH) i know I wasn't the best, I had no idea what I was doing for the most part, but I didn't want to stress everyone else out!
