okay okay here are some rules that I LIVE by for online shopping: 1. CHECK the measurements! 2. CHECK the reviews, especially those with photos 3. CHECK THE FABRIC. The fabric is already an good indicator if it's quality or not 4. This one is the hardest to swallow. Buy what SUITS you. As much you might like something, you have to understand that some clothes will be unflattering on you.
@indigoeye3874
@indigoeye3874 Жыл бұрын
5. Check that you can return the clothes and get a refund if it still turns out the size is off, fabric is bad or it just doesn't look good on you. Number 4 can be really hard to implement, since they show off their clothes on pretty, skinny models, photograped from the best angle. It's often hard to imagine what it will look like on you.

2 b: Read as many bad reviews as you can find, not just the good ones. If a lot of bad reviews are about long shipping times, you may be getting good items but have to be patient. Bad reviews about the actual clothing suggest you should skip. Also, how (and if) the company responds to bad reviews says a lot about them. If there are no bad reviews, chances are good they got rid of them. No company is perfect.

When footless tights with the lace cuffs came back in the mid 2000s, I was chatting casually with a mother and tween daughter outside a store. The mother was so irritated about how much she had to spend on all these tights. I smiled and asked if she would like me to stop that. She said sure, very curiously. I told the daughter, "Cute tights! I remember having a pair just like those when I was a teenager!" The scrunched up look on that girl's face made both her mother and laugh hard. Never heard if the mother had to buy more tights but the look on the girls face said no.😂😂😂

Those “glitched” dresses were part of a show that was commenting on how attached we are to our devices. Hence the whole computer glitched look. Which was fun since literally everyone was just filming and looking at the show through their phones instead of enjoying the art in the moment. It was made by (I think) two designers who were fed up with comments about how they’d allegedly “photoshopped” some of their looks (idk lol) so they made this collection that was supposed to confuse you to comment on how we should enjoy the art in person and not focus on filming and stuff. In my opinion it was actually quite cool, not wearable for everyday life ofc, but cool.

I caught myself in a constant cycle of buying crazy fashion pieces just to keep up with current clothing trends. And I wasn’t the kind of person that had money to throw around so it was pretty upsetting to me when I realized that I was buying clothing , only wearing it 1 to 2 times and then it not being in style anymore. Now when I have the extra money to spend on clothes, I’ll buy things that are versatile and won’t necessarily go out of style. My wallet and my closet are much happier now.

Don't follow fashion trends unless they actually look good and have some taste. In the late 80's I never ratted my hair up really high because I didn't like how it looked. You do not have to follow the craziness that the "fashion industry" puts out. They just want you to spend money and don't care how ridiculous you look. It's totally the Emperor's new clothes and you don't want to be all nakey and ignorant. XD

Yeah, asking because I've gone onto my first floor balcony in the garden apartments with underwear and just a top, but to be fair, they are more like shirt dress type things that are more like a mini dress used for leggings, etc. I just fill the bird feeders, or toss something out there, dressed like that, but is that 'out in public'?

Agree! I never followed trends. I once was the "before" the trend was in, after everyone was wearing it, was not so funny anymore. I have so many different styles, that one day I look like a sort of skategirl emo and the next I am a dumpstertruck.

9:40 I appreciate that you mentioned that you’re coming from a place of privilege. I know that plastic/polyester two dollar Cammies at Walmart are not good for the environment or the people who made the garment. And I know that it’s going to not be as good of quality as a higher price point but I’m on disability and my monthly income is $911. So like you said, some of us, don’t have a lot of options when it comes to fast fashion. But I am trying to make more of my own clothes, and I love thrift stores!

15:45 the other thing, too, is a lot of these Instagram ad type companies are stealing original photos from creators and designers, and then selling completely shoddy, or seemingly unrelated clothing based on the stolen images.

The articles of clothing that are Frankensteined together reminds me of an episode of the Cosby show where Theo's sister made him a cheaper replica of a fashion shirt he wanted that cost way too much for a date. He was so embarrassed over the way it turned out. It truly was bad lol. But then the girl saw it and said she liked it, so the show ended on a happy note just like every episode did. (To bad that was not the case for other areas in life where Mr. Cosby was involved. Ugh, so gross)
