Just watching this after I've finished making my own video and it's so refreshing to hear someone share so many of my thoughts! The little inconsistencies annoyed me so much too but you also brought up so many points I didn't consider either like how Ellie feels both too old and yet still slightly immature for being 40 - loved that you brought that up and it's really given me a lot to think about! :)

Oh cool!! I’m going to go watch your video now 🤩 you’re right too old and yet immature is exactly how I felt with Ellie

I just stumbled across your video and I completely agree with what you said about how Ellie didn't feel like a millennial! I'm turning 34 in a couple of months and I have friends in their late 30s/early 40s and the characters conversations didn't feel like how we actually talk to each other. Ellie felt closer to my mum's age (mid 50s) so it didn't feel realistic!

Yes! Exactly how I felt too - glad to hear someone else feels the same

Re Nelly the toy elephant, she does say she found a pattern and made one for Lottie

@@91Raikkonen does she? Do you know the page number please? Or whereabouts in the narrative that happens? I defo want to read that as I potentially completely missed that!

@CharlotteFurnessWriter I had it on Kindle but it's page 37 :)

So I've had a look in my print book and it's on p.37 when she's talking about being in the Big Waterstones and is looking at other graphic novels and Manga etc. Is that where you have the reference to the pattern or is it elsewhere in the story? If elsewhere, what's happening in the scene and I can find it. In my copy, when she's in the Big Waterstones on p.37, she says "I gave my toy Nellie to Lottie when she was a toddler and she loved her too".... this is like a mystery haha! I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it 🤓

Page 37: “Mum gave me this little woolly elephant when I was a baby. I madly threw her away, then bitterly regretted it. When Lottie was born I found the same knitting pattern and made a Nellie elephant for her.”

The continuity errors in this book were a big shame for me. I really wanted to like this story more.

I kind of loved it ngl. But I was confused as to why there was even the subplot about Lotties dad when it didn’t even go anywhere 🤔 I feel like it could’ve been longer and more fleshed out but for what it is I did definitely enjoy it!

To be fair I did enjoy it too! Just wish there was more 🤭
