Dear Charlotte, I hadn’t heard of you until this morning, when I watched your video of the York book Fair. I visited it last year and plan to go again this year. Strange you say you are afraid of being boring. I don’t know what the right word is for someone who could never be boring, but you have that quality. Some people say they could listen to some great actor or actress reading the phone directory and you have something of that quality. I know we could talk about books and country houses all day without being bored. When you described yourself as a booky nerd, I knew we would get on. I am ‘retired’ and now work as an independent writer and researcher, mainly in the field of the history of science and also have an improvised lab where I do my own experiments, a very old-fashioned thing to be doing nowadays, as almost all science is carried out in big institutions. I have not counted them, but I am sure my 2,00 books are in more than ten different places. Many of them are accommodated higgledy-piggledy in home-made book-cases that I have winkled into any odd corner where I can find room for them. Maybe we will meet this year in the book fair at York? I’ve subscribed, anyway.

Hi - thank you for such a lovely comment and thanks for subscribing! Unfortunately I won’t be at the York Book Fair this year - I’ll be sad to miss it. Your retired life sounds fascinating - my FIL is a retired chemist and he still likes to do hobbies that have an element of chemical work - for example he makes soap and enjoys the process of testing the ph balance etc. I still need to count all my books - perhaps I’ll do that in a future video :) thanks again for your lovely comment! C

Stumbled across this video last night, saved it to my watch later list, and watched it this morning. I enjoyed it. As someone who hopes to be a published writer, I found this video to be interesting. Also, the polar bear bookmark is cute.

I cam across this video because, like any other KZbin videos I wanna to see what does an writer do in a day to day lifestyle. What comes to my interesting is that the freedom that you love to do as a writer and it something I will like to do. Like blogs, writing a short story, and even maybe just maybe a book. But I know that I'm terrible on my grammer but I have a lot of imagination and ideas that I feel like I have to bring it out and write about it, but just wanna see some inspiration and great keep on a good work...

Bigggie5769 hey thanks for such a lovely comment ☺️ if you want to write you should definitely do it - even if you just start small and do a couple of hours a week, and then build up how much you do over time. In terms of the grammar I wouldn’t worry too much - there are lots of great programs you can get to help with spelling and grammar checks - I use Microsoft Word spellcheck and also Grammarly which is a great spelling and grammar checker. Good luck! ☺️🍀

Hi - thank you for your lovely comment :) I actually really enjoyed filming the day, I just worried that others might find it boring, but I've had a few people say that they found it really interesting! I will be doing a video about my book as soon as the final artwork is ready and I have the go-ahead from my publisher. Also a 3rd day in the life is coming soon and I'm thinking of doing a 'week in the life' too :) stay tuned hehe

Dear Charlotte. I am a writer. It has been a long while since I feel aspire to continue my writing, but I have a lot of half written books just lying around. So I said to myself this year I want to build on my writing skills and complete more books. So I decided to randomly look up a life of a writer and I like your channel, most of them are completely boring and lazy effort but yours I like. I think you're funny, I was laughing when you said maybe nobody is still watching!! Think am gonna sub for some aspiration!! 2019:)

Hi, I clicked onto this by accident and I'm so happy you're so engaging and lovely ! I'm from the Uk like your accent and I'm really interested in getting into writing articles for company's/website. I would want to do it from home, alongside my full time job. Any tips on how to get into that field ? Thanks! Love you !

Hi Siobhan! Thank you for such a lovely comment - what a wonderfully serendipitous event that led you to my video :) I hope you enjoy the next video which is live tonight!! In regards to getting work writing articles for a company's website, it can be quite difficult to get well established. Do you have a blog of your own? That can be a good place to start as it helps you build a body of work to show prospective clients. Secondly, consider doing some voluntary work to help build up a portfolio of work. I have written for Settle Stories for a couple of years now, writing voluntary pieces for their blog. I don't get paid for the work but I do have an online body of work and a referee for future work. Finally, I would recommend getting on Linked In (if you're not already) and share your blog on LinkedIn - that's how I got my most recent freelance gig. Basically, just keep going lol . . . it might feel like you're putting lots of hours in for little reward but it will pay off in the end!! Good luck and if you have any more questions please do feel free to ask :) take care :D xxx

I’m taking notes in this video not actually writing content for my book. Any excerpts which were then cited in the book verbatim were referenced appropriately. This is just my method for reading a book and absorbing the information. I know all about plagiarism from my time at Uni :)

@@CharlotteFurnessWriter That's awesome I am a writer also. but I am a panster, so I write by the seat of my pants. I am currently writing a novel called Grim Phipps but as short stories until I have enough past it all together as a novel. I believe every writer should start with short stories just like the training wheels on a bike before they come off.
