Thanks!I enjoyed that walk down memory lane!My grandfather (Mark Boddy) had a grocers shop during and after WW2.They lived in NORTH END .There was a kid my age called Billy Firth and we use to walk down to the beck foe a swim under the waterfalls you showed.I also remember the cattle markets near there with the farmers bidding for livestock!We used to go up to CRAIKALL to my uncles FRED BODDY and watch the village cricket matches. HAPPY DAYS!during and after the war!Dad (Harry Boddy)was a pharmacist in Middlesbrough!

Great video. I remember seeing all of this in Bedale a few years back with family brings back good memories. I do notice a few changes though with new shops, restaurants etc. One of my favorite places in North Yorkshire by far.

Fantastic!! I’ve just found that on both sides of my family tree there’s multiple parts in my family going back to the 16 and 1700s to Yorkshire and Bedale specifically, so I would very very much like to thank you for making this. All the best and god bless you!

You are a fine ambassador for Bedale. I would love to visit this quaint and historical village someday as I meander around all of Yorkshire. This is a dream of mine...to roam all over England for six months. I enjoy all your videos....and I don't think we have Barbel here in the US....they look a little like a Catfish to me! Thank you for sharing all your videos and a "slice of Yorkshire" life!

Ahhh! Thanks for asking! Yes, I did finish my novel a few years back. It is titled 'The Good Day Baking Company.' I'm afraid to say though, that aside from the catchy title, it is not a good book! That's not to say it isn't entertaining though, as it is a good book to laugh at the overly melodramatic tone! Also, I stuck it out, and it has an enduring and happy ending!

Hi Tom, well I have eventually caught you up with your wonderful Swale Barbell and other fishing videos. I have found your thoughts on the proposed Grammar Schools very interesting indeed. A sight from the inside. I myself at 63 went to the first purpose built comprehensive school in bradford on the initial intake whilst my older sister went to the Girls Grammar School. I openly admit that she was and still is cleverer than me and would have prospered in what ever form of education was available to her. I notice your use of the term streams and they were used at Tong during my time there. Everything there was rosy at the time with brilliant facilities for teachers and pupils alike until the head mentioned that I had worked hard over the last year and should have moved up the system if there had been a place for me which there wasn’t. My parents were not best pleased so they placed me in a private school which to be fair did little for my education but other activities on offer probably shaped my future a lot. I would hate to criticise the teachers there but I do not believe they were very good at their jobs, well they did little for me.… My sister spent her working life in the teaching profession like you, I must forward your vids to her as I would love to here her response to your views. I on the other hand qualified as a joiner and then left to serve 38 years in the fire service, spending quite some time in assessment and development and agree totally with your views especially backing from above from all levels and finance.
