A very obvious resistance we see here in New Zealand is within the dealerships, they are simply not holding the EV stock. our local Hyundai dealer has a total of one EV in their new car stock of about ten cars and are very quick to tell you that there is no demand. What they dont tell you that in New Zealand at lest there is little or no profit in New Car sales, all the profit comes from the service department and the second hand yard. The second hand EV market is still very young and service on an EV is typically around 10% that of an ICE in the first 100,000 Km so there is little or nothing in it for a dealership.

Moore’s Law specifically applies to electronics, particularly the semiconductor industry, where it predicts that the number of transistors on a chip will double approximately every two years, leading to exponential growth in computing power. While it directly pertains to advancements in semiconductor manufacturing, its broader idea of rapid technological progress has inspired comparisons in other fields. However, other industries follow different models of improvement, and Moore’s Law itself remains unique to electronics.

@@bjm23vancity92because BYD and other Chinese companies are waging a price war. Chinese are increasingly nationalistic and want to buy Chinese brands. BYD is cheaper and some might argue is more technologically advanced than Tesla. Tesla is losing in value for price comparison with BYD.

EVs falter real quick,i bought one here in India not tio expensive,@ $20k but the resale plummets like a rock,used cars dealerships devalue the car and no one wants it, Chinese evs are being pumped up by govt subsidised policies and support, watch it vanish when the govt backs down
@TerryHickey-xt4mf11 сағат бұрын
no need to sell it, I have an MG ev and it has been faultless for 2 years and has all the fruit. So why would I want to sell it?

Just because you don't, doesn't mean noone else does. Change of circumstances, divorce, illness, debt, company car. The answer to depreciation is hardly to tell people they must never sell.
@Zavier-ks6cb6 сағат бұрын
Right now, China’s car market doesn’t need subsidies at all. They stopped the subsidy policy back in 2021. It’s just that you guys keep reading Western media and don’t really understand the situation in China. The market is in a phase of elimination - if your cars aren’t good enough, you’ll go under. In China, all cars depreciate, and gas cars lose value even faster because new models always come with more features, and sometimes at a lower price. Only when there’s not much difference between new and old cars can used cars hold their value. That’s just a natural result of market development. Would you buy a Nokia just because smartphones are evolving so fast?

@@peterpan6821 the depreciation is due to ev's becoming cheaper every year. Give a few years and it will be ice cars you can't sell used.

The Moore's law quote, is it some kind of an inside joke or is he just totally clueless? Hard to take this guy seriously when he keeps spouting stuff that he knows nothing about. He thinks Moore's law is about cost of car production lmao 😂
@kenw.45398 сағат бұрын
He's using "Moore's law" in broad terms, as a general concept meaning with Chinese EVs you are constantly getting substantially more for the same price vs. legacy, Western car makers who are out to rip you off. Stop nerding out.
@alburaq32907 сағат бұрын
@kenw.4539 Moore's law is about transistor density on semiconductor. What's it gotta do with car manufacturing in "broad terms"? Words mean something for a reason. The way he says it seems like he really has no idea what he's talking about. Makes me question his intelligence.

@4svideosforschool12 сағат бұрын
Legacy auto is going to have to partner with Chinese companies and just rebadge at this point. Legacy cars are way too expensive and they won’t produce cheap EVs. New ICE cars are so expensive, it was cheaper to get a 2021 Lexus ES 350 very low miles than a new Civic! And any equivalent EV was $15,000 more. Nothing will change in America until EVs are $25,000 and under. The idea that $35,000 is a good deal is a joke. Most people cannot afford the payments.
