Welcome back to Smoke-King UK! This week we are bringing you a cigar review of the Charter Oak Connecticut Broadleaf Toro from Foundation Cigars that has recently landed in our humidors here at Smoke-King.
Cigar Background:
A legend in Connecticut history, the hollow trunk of the Charter Oak was the hiding place of the colony's charter from King James of England.
Another legend is Nicholas Melillo (born and bred in this area), whose vast knowledge and experience of using Connecticut River Valley Broadleaf in cigar making is hitting cult status.
After a spell at Drew Estate, he started Foundation cigars in 2015 with the aim of creating blends he would enjoy himself.
The Charter Oak series is his way of paying homage to the area, its people, and the tobacco they grow.
This medium-strength cigar is all about flavour, with a rich aromatic profile of espresso, dried fruits, plus leather and oak, all mixing in a wonderful creamy smoke.
Blended as a tribute to his grandfather, who smoked Connecticut broadleaf cigars all his life this is a cigar you need to try.
