He's speaking of Warren DeMartini, I take it? Jake's performance at the US Festival in '83 is the best I've ever seen by any lead guitarist. Wicked stage moves, tasty, razor-sharp playing, eyeballing the crowd with a menacing glare, like they were his prey.. Easily the biggest gig he had ever played, the new kid on the block with the biggest possible shoes to fill, and he owned it.

Jake was so much better live with Ozzy than in the studio. For some reason they were never able to capture him properly on the 2 studio records, and I think I read an interview with Max Norman many years back who basically said the same thing, that they had a hard time getting a "performance" out of him. But live, when he was on, he was untouchable.
@fistoftulkas73355 жыл бұрын
The shredding on BATM and especially The Ultimate Sin is insane, the problems were that those two amazing albums are keyboards heavy, sign of the 80s, and Jake's phenomenal playing was drowned a bit too much... Even Ozzy himself recently wanted to remaster The Ultimate Sin and make the guitar jump out more because it was so good... BATM has the same issue if not worse...
