The underlying plot of House is the story of Chase becoming the next House. This was one of the milestone episodes of that, along with those of him accepting being fired by house, killing the dictator, returning as the "prodigal son". House's underlings were either too straight laced (Foreman, Cameron) or too reckless (Thirteen and Kutner) except Chase who wasn't trying to impress House, he was learning from him. House may have liked the crazy ones more and enjoyed teasing the goodie2shoes but Chase was the natural heir.

Chase's "mistake" was that he didn't investigate the sister's symptoms carefully enough. This happened because of a strong mitigating circumstance that distracted him, I.e. the sudden news of his father's death. You might think that this is NOT an 'excuse' but that's the wrong way of looking at it. The show portrayed it perfectly..... it's not an excuse, but it is enough to show that Chase does not deserve to be hung out to dry. *NOTE* The correct thing to do in Chase's situation would be to immediately recuse himself for the day or perhaps two days so he can properly deal with his father's death. That was his real mistake.

Even House prods him to find out what his dad is doing at Princeton. He is not depressed that he died per say, he is depressed his dad made an effort but Chase blew it by holding on his grudges. When he finally calms down and goes to chat with his father; he was already leaving to catch his flight. House is protecting Chase and offer the best solution for Chase, which is the worst solution for himself. I’m sure Chase recognized and appreciated it. A boss who has a real interest in you will do weird things.

The best House Team would be Chase, Thirteen, Foreman and Taub. Which I guess is what finally happened in the last few seasons. Chase is so much like House minus the sarcasm. Foreman is so much like House minus the pain and depression. Thirteen is more House than House himself. I suppose House hired his team based on what he saw of himself in each one of them.

Chase was always my favorite. Cameron was too whiney (but still right most of the time so I never hated her). Foreman was always "he's turning into House" and then after 8 seasons of that Chase ended up being the new House and only after rewatching did I have to see that subtle foreshadowing. Never liked Foreman but the show seemed to. He was always around the most.
@victorpradha99464 жыл бұрын
Cameron was also quite a bit too self-righteous about it "being right". That said, I don't believe she ever killed anyone through negligence or too aggressive treatment efforts or switching blood samples.
@6thgraderfriends4 жыл бұрын
@@victorpradha9946 Right, that episode where Foreman found out 13 was on the placebo for a new Huntington treatment so he made her get on the true medication and it made her really sick...I never recovered from that. Never liked him afterward.

Wish there was a continuation on House after the ending, you know, Chase running the diagnostics department, House living undercover, Wilson's cancer going into remission.
@seangriffin20532 жыл бұрын
House really did care about Chase in his own way. He helped him see that he did make a bad mistake, but he had a mitigating reason. Also, he told Chase it would be better for him if he just kept living this guilt trip and took the full hit. That was basically House's way of saying, "If you want to get back at me for not telling you your Dad was dying, I gave you an opening."

So she gets to barge into his office and demand a check up while he’s obviously busy, the brother gets to pay off a medical professional that lies about him being a healthy donor, oh of course he gives his sister a disease because of his reckless behavior, and he almost takes her final moments away from her kids to satiate his guilt, and we’re supposed to believe it’s chase’s fault. Got it.

Chase was actually in the public space of the Clinic when he got the call, not in any sort of private space, but it was Chase's fault initially. He misdiagnosed her ulcer, which caused her initial liver failure, and required her to get a new liver. If Chase hadn't misdiagnosed her, she would've been fine. The brother was in the wrong with him lying about his Hep C, which gave her the cancer that killed her, but she also got 3 more months out of that liver, she would've been dead the next day, otherwise. It's not 100% Chase's fault, which is why it the hospital settled, and Chase got a 2 week suspension.

I never understood why he wanted to keep his dads death a secret so much
@wobby12683 жыл бұрын
From the start, Chase was established as a character fiercely protective of his privacy. Just a few other examples off the top of my head: how he acted when House and Cameron pried into his relationship with his dad ("Cursed"); how he evaded the question when Foreman asked him how he knew so much about alcoholics ("The Socratic Method"), and how he shut down his coworkers' concerns after Cameron left him ("Ignorance is Bliss") _by punching House in the face._ Hell, he wouldn't even tell Foreman and Cam whether or not he believed in God! In this particular case, however, I don't think he was trying to keep the death a secret so much as the fact that his father was dying and never even told him about it. Because _that_ is all kinds of fucked-up and invites all sorts of unwanted questions as to your ridiculous levels of family dysfunction.
