⚡I prefer Capital One for one of the reasons you said. I don't care about hotels. When I go somewhere I just want one that is convenient, in a safe neighborhood, and cheap. When I travel, I'm usually out exploring the whole day, so hotels don't matter too much. Hyatt is a nice brand, but no guarantee they'll be in the area I want to stay, or they they will be be the cheapest.

I used to be a Chase and Amex guy. Then I got the Capital One Venture X. After enjoying a delicious lunch in the the DFW Capital One Lounge after a trip that I took on the travel credit it became clear that there is room in my wallet for every card that gives me outsized value.

the main reason why I keep a csp is transfer to Hyatt. I keep getting easy 3+ cpp on pretty much each hotel stay. Staying in Houston next week at 5k pts a night vs 160 USD cash. Through your advise on your channel, yesterday (25Oct), I found 2 one way business class seats on SQ34 -SIN to SFO - Oct 15, 2025 on Air Canada's website. I quickly moved 87500x2 points from Cap One to Aeroplan. I have never seen an SQ offer like this. Now we are building our trip out there to meet the return flight. Thanks for your awesome tutorial!!

The CS is a true, fully travel-focused card, while VX is more of a hybrid card with a focus on travel benefits. The VX is better for the average person who travels a fair amount but spends more on other things like hobbies, while the CS is likely better for someone whose lifestyle revolves around frequent or higher-end travel. VX is better for spend, but Chase has better transfer options. My biggest issue with VX is the hotel partners are all pretty bad. I most commonly get the most value out of simply booking travel and using the purchase eraser. It makes me wonder if the transfer partners are even necessary at this point. I'd almost rather C1 drop them and add a couple of more travel bonuses to the card instead.

You mentioned about 5/24, but Capital One is well known to deny people with high velocity so if you were to chase the 5/24 then you would have what they consider high velocity and would need to wait quite some time before applying for a Capital One card. I find the Capital One cards far more valuable so I wouldn't bother with Chase unless there is a specific card you're interested, such as one of the partner cards.

Capitol One vs Chase? As the great philosopher Yogi Berra once said, when you come to the fork in the road, take it. So yes to that question. Capitol One is essentially free to carry with the travel credit and the anniversary miles. Their lounge at DFW is the best I have experienced next to the Delta One Lounge at JFK. Right now my favorite Chase card is the CIP but I hear the siren calls of the CSP and the CSR. My Amex cards are nervous 😀 You know the best Capitol One cards 👍🏿 Question: Have you heard anything about Capitol One’s buyout of Discover ? ⚡️

⚡I have the C1 duo and I'm a big fan of it. Just got the CSP with it's current welcome offer. Going to add the CFF and and maybe the CFU (do you think it's even worth it since I have the VX?) from there the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus and Marriott Bold.
@hantzmetellus717711 күн бұрын
Food for thought, if you end up liking Chase Transfer Partners, you can always use you VX for "Fixed Costs", the CFU for your regular shopping (anything that would give you 1x) and CFF for rotating categories. That way you're getting point for chase and capital 1. Cap1 points get partnered with your Travel credit and 10k anniversary points and you have yourself a built in mini vacation every year. And you hav3 a decent amount of chase points to transfer to Hyatt.

I still don’t understand all the online hype for Chase travel partners. Hyatt is great, but really the only pro I see for them over C1. VX gets you 2 percent back for less buy in than the CSR/Freedom combo (2.25 percent in the Chase portal). Domestic flight availability through transfer partners like Aeroplan has been miserable the last 6 months. So, yeah, it’s great that Chase has some domestic partners, but their valuation of points isn’t gonna save you anything.
@jmlinden710 күн бұрын
United and Southwest are much better transfer partners for domestic flights. If you mostly care about international flights then VX is fine.
