🐶 1. My 5 Amex cards (and one Chase card - the CSP) say that I prefer Amex 2. The view hasn't changed, but has gotten stronger in preference (great customer service, positive value, etc). CSP was initially my back up for places that don't take Amex, but that's been replaced in role with the Venture X (CSP is my Peloton and Doordash CC haha). 3. I have the 5 card Amex limit. I have the Platinum, Gold and the Delta Reserve and Platinum and the BCP. I also have the Bonvoy Business and the Hilton Business from Amex. Is there a path to get the Aspire and Brilliant despite the rule? I know that Amex does give offers periodically. I am in the garden now because I am closing on a house in early November. However after closing I will be looking to add to my Amex collection with the Green. I am 5/24 but that will end in February or March. So I may start dating Chase for 90 days after closing.

AMEX Plat & Gold: All airfare, restaurant, and grocery spend Chase Sapphire Reserve: Non-airfare travel (hotels, ferries, commuting, etc) When I travel overseas, my default card to use is AMEX Gold (because we eat out a lot when we travel), BUT a lot of places (especially in Italy) do not accept AMEX. This is where it's helpful to have the Chase Sapphire card. I also use CSR for cabs, trains, ferries, and rideshare. AMEX points I use for booking aspirational b-class flights. Chase points I use for Hyatt stays and for "topping off" miles for United awards.

I have the Platinum card and get the annual fee back and more with all the credits, and that doesn’t factor in the value of probably 10 Centurion Lounge/Priority Pass visits per year and also using the points. My experience with American Express I have met every welcome bonus that I’ve received from every American Express card that I have in less than a month per card. I apply for an American Express card every three to 6 months. I am in Papa after the first week of my first American Express card. My credit score is currently a 776 Experian 1 card in the last nine month and I’m still in pop up jail. My fiancé who holds balances and takes a long time to pay off those balances are getting 175K personal platinum welcome offers and me who pays everything so I don’t hold the balance every month with 10 K plus and spend rejected every single card apply for. Great video! Although I have my DDA/Savings accounts with Chase I only have the Sapphire Preferred as a credit card whereas I have a few Amex cards (Hilton Honors, Blue Cash Preferred, and Amex Everyday) that I use as my everyday cards. Just my thought. Thank you for this comparison approach. :)

I think the optimal setup is: Chase sapphire preferred (dining and general travel) Chase aeroplan (groceries) Chase hyatt (hyatt stays) Chase ritz carlton (marriott stays, lounge access, and credits) Amex hılton aspire (hilton stays, credits) You have status in 3 main hotel programs and have meaningful credits to offset the annual fees. 3 different free night awards and mostly visa and mastercard for optimal acceptance.

I do think chase would benefit a lot from changing the Sapphire Reserve dining multiplier to 4x points rather than 3x. Would add a much needed boost to the Reserve card to make up for the lost benefits, and also help match the 4x MR that AMEX gold gets. Would also be nice if the Freedom Unlimited got a base 2% unlimited cashback to make it catch up to the other options out there. That said, I won't be moving away from my trifecta (really quadfecta setup if you count the prime visa but I guess it arguably shouldn't, since you can't get UR from it). It's just too good and 1% cashback on dining isn't hurting my wallet. I'm using my custom cash to cover my monthly gas spend anyways and the other Chase cards cover everything else. I would just like some more differentiation and updates to the Chase setup which would make me even happier with it!

I prefer AMEX over Chase. Both are great, but I just love how AMEX gives you so many pathways to get points. I love getting random emails from them offering 20k MR points for simply adding an AU, etc. They also give higher bonuses for more cards (just hit a 250k SUB on the biz Plat...hard to beat that). I also really like the frequency of various transfer bonuses. The synergy with Hilton and Delta is also really great, vs Chase with Hyatt and United/Southwest. My favorite AMEX card is the Platinum for the lounge access, and 5x on flights purchased directly from an airline is nice. I use most of the credits pretty seamlessly and reliably get $1,100/yr in value back. My favorite Chase card is the IHG Premier Rewards (my P2 just got this with the 5 night bonus). This will cover our lodging when we go overseas next month and is perfect for all the times we stay at Holiday Inns for kids sports tournaments.

Cathay Pacific for Amex redemptions are decent no?
@superflee122 ай бұрын
Yes, Cathay Pacific is underrated. Just did a business class flight redemption for 115000 points from US to London to Hong Kong

What about Cathay/Avios? I'd rate it as good as Virgin, especially if you're interested in more than Japan Also RIP EWR

I like Hyatt and chase credits are just easier and make more sense than amex.

Your power Sebby and what separates you from the rest is the specifics so deep dive it man lol.

Amex because I got them first and they have solid travel value, I also am not in Chase’s approval range and haven’t been for a while. I gave up caring about Chase since I continue to grab approvals else where at lmao/24 and have cards with similar or better rewards than Chase.

Nothing about the service. Last time I called Chase I couldn’t understand the rep. AmEx card members service has never been anything but exceptional….and I’ve been an AmEx card member (currently Platinum, Bonvoy, and Hilton) for over 30 years!

The only thing that makes the platinum worth it for me is hertz status. I saved 1100 this year on two rentals

Definitely would watch a 2-3 hour video. I’d rather have a video of substance, regardless of the length. 🐶
@SiegfriedEmme2 ай бұрын
maybe you could split that 2-3 hour video into one about amex and one about chase

We have reached the Nintendo vs Sega (or Playstation vs Xbox) rivalry portion of this credit card cycle. People will deal with coupons and high AF if they like/love Amex. Its become an emotional decision for many regardless of the math. The intangibles make some people justify an Amex Gold when their 4X spend doesn't match the hassle of the credits. Even more so for an Amex Platinum.

I wish sapphire preferred and sapphire reserve had better multipliers.
