Thank you for doing this reaction/analysis for Jimin. Later in the video is more of his more recent performances. There maybe a more recent version by the same person Jem. Also I know everyone's telling you but you missed one of my most favorite parts of the last song. I have loved Jimin's vocal tone since I first heard him in 2016. Also before their debut, the company wasn't doing well financially and Jimin trained for between 6 - 12 months so he wasn't given vocal lessons. (He had to spend time converting his classical dance training to a more kpop style.) He recently spoke about how he used to ask if he could sit in during Jungkook and V's vocal lessons. In a pre-debut vlog, he spoke about how he tried to do singing by himself to apply the lessons he watched. He said he knew he wasn't doing it correctly but didn't know how to fix it. It was heartbreaking. As late as 2017, he was still upset about his voice. Jungkook also felt badly for him because he tried to help but they had such different ways of singing it was hard and since they were touring for so long it was hard to get vocal training. In 2018, we noticed that he seemed much more confident.

His voice just touches my heart bc of the emotion he puts in it. Breathtaking vocalist! He executes every song so perfectly with his vocals and the way he does adlibs, high notes, vocal runs and the way he perfectly harmonizes with every one so beautifully and also conveys the emotions of the songs so raw and perfect, like? How can someone sing like that? Honestly he’s my fav vocalist, not only in Kpop, but the world!! I’m absolutely proud of the vocalist jimin has become. My compilation wasn't made for reactors to chop or cut. I was so picky in choosing his best live performances clips to showcase his amazing voice. Such a shame you cut so many parts and didn't even finish it, if you will do that you better just chose a short compilation with just 5 mins duration, also Jimin wasn't using falsetto, if only you continue to watch you'll see that Jimin usually use his head voice, his voice is just naturally high pitch (he is a pure tenor) with a very full but light tone so his high notes usually mistaken as falsetto when he is actually using his head voice. You didn't even reach to his raspy/ growl parts, and some of his amazing low registers, oh well, but thanks anyway.
@ChaseandMelia3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for all the work and time you took to make your compilation. We use our channel to teach/talk about singing our goal isn't to simply react to a video but to analyze what a singer is doing. We pick and choose what spots we think are teachable moments and try to use those. It looks like a lot of people want us to see some more clips so it looks like there will be a part II. To my ears, he sings almost exclusively in falsetto. I would love to know what you think the distinction is between headvoice and falsetto though!
@ChaseandMelia3 жыл бұрын
Hi Abbie, this is a well written and thought out explanation of Head Voice versus Falsetto. Melia and I also took Vocal Pedagogy in college and have studied and understand the anatomy of the voice. To definitively say that Head Voice and Falsetto are clearly defined in the way that you describe is a black and white view of singing that very few people have after leaving college. I have studied and sung alongside actual counter tenors that are singing in FALSETTO with a full, not breathy or airy voice. In my studies I learned that if I sent enough air through my folds while singing Falsetto the Bernoulli effect would assist in the adduction of the entire fold. There is literally no way to definitively prove that, it is just a theory. If you would like to have an open conversation about the voice, we would love to have you. If you are looking to tell people that your vocal philosophy is the only way, than this is not the place for you. It looks like you are very knowledgeable about the voice and you would be a wonderful addition to our comment section, as long as you recognize that what you have is a Vocal Philosophy not a Vocal Decree.
@JemMinie26133 жыл бұрын
@@ChaseandMelia falsetto is a vocal projection sounds airy and less rounded, it has more airflow while head voice has more rounded tone and fuller sounded than falsetto & clean. If only you are aware of Jimin's vocal capability you will know that he's not using much of falsetto based on the QUALITY of his voice. I am a choir singer and always uses falsettos in singing church songs, but usually use my head voice when singing pop songs. I'd took a vocal lessons which made me aware and tell the difference. Because that was the first thing that was taught to me. I was also confused before to tell the difference but sooner learned to tell the distinction between the two. Ones can easily tell when a singer is using a fake voice or head voice if they know how to do both. Please don't misinterpret this as questioning you with your insights, but it just happen that I have witnessed Jimin's progression in singing since his early years as a singer so I am familiar with his voice, and even if you watch other reaction videos from every single vocal experts (vocal coach/teacher) who have been listening to BTS for so long and already familiar with their vocals that Jimin usually can hit high notes without relying to his falsetto thag he's using mainly his head voice. Also one thing, if you just continued the video in one part when Jimin hit that high notes in the magic shop you can tell that he is not relying on backing track, you can clearly hear that he even held the high notes which he usually does always adding something new every performance, in the latter part, when he was lifted you can still clearly hear him still singing, most of this clips arw taken from the fancams. BTS are using some backing tracks especially when they are doing a lot of hard choreo but they are indeed singing live, BTS sucks in lip syncing, Jimin even in one part of his lie chose to not sing the chorus part 'Caught in a lie' instead of pretending that he is singing or to lip sync, that what sets BTS apart from tbe other singers☺️ thanks!

Thanks for reacting!!! These are older clips, which they are still good. He has gotten better over the years. All the members have gotten better very year. Also Jimin didn’t have a lot of self confidence in his voice when they debut. He joined the band to be a dance (because he majored in contemporary dance) and had the shortest training period. So I think he might have, maybe at the beginning of his career, relied off the back track maybe a little but he has gotten better has his confidence has gotten better, at least in my eyes. Jimin solo song I recommend to check out: -Promise (my personal favorite one) -Serendipity live -Filter live Just a little warning: Just so you know Jimin, V, and Jungkook probably have a lot of more toxic SOLO STANS (they aren’t considered ARMY, in my eyes, because ARMY is someone who loves all seven members) and they can sometimes be a little aggressive…

Thanks for watching! Everyone has different taste in music and vocal preference, thats why we always say its silly to say someone is "best in the world", or "better than another amazing singer". Great question! I think that he is doing that because of a lot of air support. Like when you bend a water hose to slow down the flow, when you release it, it comes out stronger than before. So when he is singing and using a lot of air singing high, when he releases it, at the end of his phrase, you can hear a rush of more air. .....at least maybe 🤷🏻♂️ 😅 its hard to tell

When he first started singing they relied on his dancing so they used the backing track to cover that it was hard to sing and dance at the same time but also it would cover his tiredness of his dancing and then singing. He is now very stable in his placement of his vocal folds and his ability to know when and how to sing and also that he works at making sure he is not tense as he dances and sings at the same time. But I also think that Jimin's voice is very unique in the way he sings and also it helps that he sings differently from Jungkook so that they harmonize so well.

@Chase and Melia- I agree. I think there would be far more teachable moments if you highlight a single song. Jimin has done so much work on his vocals and just using his high notes doesn't allow for all the technique and practice he has added. That said, I do recognize your channel as a teaching channel and not just a reaction channel. I prefer channels that teach me more about music, vocals, dance, etc. than those that just say, "damn that's good." I like hearing what professionals find admirable about it. Sometimes just for confirmation, but more so, because of the knowledge and details that you all can bring.

They are not here to praise him all the time and please his fans. The purpose of this video is to educate people on his great singing techniques. They did say sumn along the lines of “we repeated abt this a lot of time and therefore, we can’t finish the whole video”. So obv they don’t need to review the whole video cz jimin uses the same style all the time and it’s boring to repeat for viewers.

Really no one else in the group can sing as high even though the entire vocal line can sing falsetto. Taehyung Baritone to falsetto. Jin, Taehyung and Jimin were not singers. Jimin doesn’t rely on backing tracks unless he is doing his solo dancing. All you have to do is listen to Your Eyes Tell, Tiny Desk, BBC performance, Film out, all live and you know he sings without auto tune or backing tracks. He is still working on his singing. He wants to be the best he can be. He says to this day, he did not feel he was ready to debut. He did it. He worked his face off. He has come a long way. ****He is the only one in the vocal line who was NOT GIVEN VOCAL TRAINING*** He auditioned and was selected as the last member so he spent the least amount of time as a trainee. He went through a lot. He asked Jungkook and Taehyung if he could audit their vocal lessons. He learned techniques and practiced on his own. People still repeat the old narrative that he either can’t sing or can’t sing live. He had to grow. The vocal line had training, he did not. Everyone had at least a year some more as trainees when Jimin was added. He was added in 2012, they debuted in 2013. He had to learn their synchronized choreography and how to sing. He said he never really knew where he fit. He practiced until 4:00am everyday. He slept from until 6:30am and begin a new day. He suffered from anxiety and lots of self doubt. He always felt that he was on his way out of the program. He was an overachiever. He excelled academically, in dance, and in various styles of martial arts. A confident overachiever to an insecure person who didn’t even recognize when he was doing well. He was trained the most in this area.

I understand you guys cutting up the video for the teachable moments to comment on, but the thing is as army we are VERY protective of the boys and if we recommend a video it’s probably because even if you don’t have a big reaction to a moment in the video we still want to see all the moments that affected you compared to other reactors/vocal coaches. It’s not a big thing against you, it is understandable to do this, the biggest issue is that army’s will have seen the video you watched multiple times, and have their own favourite moments from not only the video but from each clip. It just immediately reminds us of when BTS used to get cut from mcountdown and such. Sad memories for army. 😭 Lastly I will say that I love you both and your how you explain different techniques, and even if you added the whole video and described every clip and the video ends up being an hour long, I would watch it all! 🥰

Very well said, this sums up my opinion, I understand both Chase and Melia's perspective as I understand that this channel is, at its core, not exactly a react channel but rather an educational one and the main objective is not to praise ARMY's biases and satisfy them by always reacting to their favorite moments but i also understand the ARMYs perspective, we would definiely watch an hour-long, uncut video where we get to see every single second where they don't comment on those moments and just listen to everything... It's kind of the full-package of education and just enjoying our time with someone else on the internet watching BTS together. Anyway, cheers! 🥰

Thank you for the video. I appreciate your appreciation for Jimin's unique voice. For me, it isn't only unique, it's one of the most beautiful male voices I've ever heard and obviously that goes along with the way he looks and dances as well. 😊 In the last two years his live vocals have gotten so much stronger and better. These guys just never stop growing, learning, trying to perfect their craft... and today, 10 years later with all they've achieved, Jimin still doesn't think he's good enough and is taking vocal lessons from Jungkook now which is not a bad thing because JK is the main vocalist (justifiably so) and Jimin is the lead vocalist. He's my first, last and one and only ult bias. I respect and love him so very much and I'm happy with everyone else who loves him and his voice too. 💜

It is a very heavy experience to start doing reactions to any kpop group, let alone bts. We’re a very passionate and dedicated fandom and many army can get very defensive due to previous experiences and so much disrespect towards the members (especially Jimin…) I think you guys are doing a great job of delving into it, but I’m sure the comments can be a lot. There is SO MUCH bts content out there and it can be very difficult to sift through to find what’s going to be the perfect video to react to. So I respect you looking through compilations to try!! I’ll post some links in the reply to this that I think would be really good ones to look at for Jimin because I usually don’t like compilations anyway, and a lot of them don’t have his recent voice which, in my opinion, are the best they have ever been. :)

not sure where you heard he relies on back tracks but that's just not true. all of bts are known to sing live and no one heavily relies on back track vocals. they were trained to have the highest stamina and singing live even through intense choreo was a necessity to debut. they only rely on those back tracks when doing rigorous parts in choreo such as spinning/flipping, etc like any human would need to but like the rest of bts, he sings live unless he physically can't.

@@sanguinesr0se no one said it was a bad thing. you regurgitated what i said about it being necessary doing difficult choreo. obviously everyone uses a back track. no one sings 100% live doing intense choreo even beyonce and mj. stationary ballad singers rely on back tracks such as ariana and mariah for difficult parts. i simply said everyone does it but he doesn't rely on so i'm not sure why they said that like it was a fact. back tracks are a helpful tool and are used when necessary. all singers use them as a helpful tool but they stated he specifically relies on it which isn't true. when performance sheets for mama were released, it showed bts are one of the few acts that sing live (of course back tracks are necessary when doing spins/tricks) while every group lip syncs/heavily relied on back tracks with less difficult choreo. in conclusion, there's a differences between using back tracks as a tool vs relying on them.
