I love how you pointed to the "old" (but still new and relevant) aspect of CBA pedals, which is the "we don't know what all is possible". Love the new release and love the CBA team (and ethos)!

I just subscribed. I have the same speaking pattern. I’ve been thinking of doing Rap & my name would be Stutter Box. A nickname I got when I was a kid. I can laugh about it now. I got into playing the guitar in 5th grade from my brother that is 17 years older, he taught me Rumble & Shake it all over. I was hooked. Music helped me cope. Played in a bunch of rock & blues bands, did studio work, made a lot of friends and still jamming. Phasers are fun. I can sing without any verbal glitches and cuss like a sailor. Cool pedal.

I'm genuinely curios. I assume you are aware while you are stuttering, what is going on in your mind when it's happening? Are you thinking "just say it dammit!", or "c'mon hurry up, finish the word". I don't know man stuttering on a physiological level kind of fascinates me. I love the name Stutter Box! That's awesome!

@@whatevermusiciwant Did you know that Moses stuttered. That’s why he didn’t want to accept the responsibility of speaking for or to his people. His brother helped him out that duty. My inner talking voice talks as clearly & smoothly as your outer your talking voice. If I read out loud with someone reading out loud I don’t stutter as soon as they stop I stutter. I’ve gotten a lot better but there are times when I take a deep breath and start over again. I don’t know if you know who Mel Tillis is but he was a world famous Nashville country singer. He used his stammer for telling jokes. I did shows for him as a spotlight man. He told me once his was an act to get laughs. He could tell I was real. He autographed a big ol’ glossy picture of him for my ma back stage. She passed out and a stage security held her up. Anyway going thru a drive thru can be a challenge. Have a good weekend.

@@Jamman610 I have always heard that theory about Moses and it makes sense. I know Scripture says Exodus 4:10-12 : 10 Then Moses said to Yahweh, “Please, Lord, I have never been a man of words, neither [a]recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your slave; for I am one with a [b]hard mouth and a [c]hard tongue.” But what did the sovereign God say to Moses? This is key: 11 And Yahweh said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh? 12 So now, go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth and will instruct you what you shall speak.” "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind?" God is in complete control. That's a really cool story about Mel Tillis I very much enjoy his music. It's wild to hear that you don't stutter if reading along with someone out loud Have you ever pretended you are reading something out loud with someone while speaking alone just to try to trick your brain?

I've built envelope control into a few phasers I've made/own. On one it sums with the LFO to move the region of sweep around. In another, it speeds up the sweep when you dig in. It's always a step up from an already pleasing sound. Although a great many filters/autowahs incorporate envelope control into them, using it to modulate a modulator pedal is trickier than one would think. In particular, the manner in which any sweep "settles down" is critical to achieving a pleasing "musical" tone, and one that responds to the way in which one wishes to integrate the effect into a given song/piece. From the demos, Joel & Co. have done it right, here. The combination of sensitivity and release controls cover a LOT of bases. My guess, which perhaps Joel will confirm (or not), is that detection of the guitar envelope is done digitally, with suitable error-correction, but the *application* of that detected envelope is done in the analog domain. Joel and I struck up a friendship a decade or so back, when I complimented him on a forum, regarding the internal layout of the original Wombtone, and how he had managed to fit so much in there. I can only imagine that the inclusion of even *more* in this version posed an equal challenge of "Where can we stick THIS and what do we have to shift around to do it?". So, kudos to the whole team on this accomplishment, and staying true to the CBA form-factor.
@markhammer6435 ай бұрын
Just a sidenote to those who are thinking about using it in a vibrato mode. Perceptible vibrato requires a faster minimum speed than perceptible phasing requires. So, the ultra-slow mode will work just fine for phasing, but if you're trying a 100% wet, at a very slow sweep rate, you're going to wonder why it doesn't sound like it's doing anything. That's not the fault of the pedal; it's the fault of the human nervous system. We can't hear pitches that are too high, and we can't hear pitch changes that are too slow.

Just put in my pre-order! I'm a fiddle player by trade, and a phaser is one of my favorite effects for when I want things to get super fun and kinda trippy! A bowed instrument has an entirely different phrasing and articulation to a picked instrument, and I've always loved Chase Bliss stuff, but I've always felt like I could never really use anything you guys made before because it was geared obviously for guitar players. This is a game changer for me, and I can't wait to play many, many gigs with this thing!! Thank you!

This tricked-in envelope expression has me longing for something that may already exist or may need to now: a pedal that is just a dynamic envelope expression pedal for other pedals that have expression pedal input. So we can add this type of dynamic expression to any pedal with an expression pedal input. No reason to not give it multiple outputs; would need only one “through” output to get the guitar signal for the effects chain INs.

That method would only give envelope control over the effect intensity, unfortunately. The rate or depth of a modulation pedal or the delay time of a delay really would need outputs for those parameters, as in a rack mount system. ... So for rackmount gear, yeah, it's right there and probably already exists.
